Used RX-8 Purchase Question

I have found a used 2006 GT MT with 19K miles on a new car dealers lot. Asking price is $26850. I checked the VIN and it is outside the 4206F engine recall list. I'm thinking $24000+TTL would be a decent price. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I'd first tell them they're off their rocker- end of model year new '06s were/are at least $7500 off sticker (with some here claiming $10K off). Couple that with the relatively high miles and that car's asking price and I'd leave them an offer of around $21K tops. They'll be calling you back soon because for that price, unless someone's a desperate sucker, it'll be parked there for a long time.

If they don't budge much off the price, take a drive up to Chicago and drive away in a brand new '06 for way less than $25K. You'll get the full warranty along with the peace of mind that you broke the car in.

OMG, no.

I bought my brand new 2006 GT MT with 61 miles on it two weeks ago... for $24300 + TTL. (Minneapolis).

Tell the dealer to STFU. You could get a brand new 2007 GT for 26850 + TTL and I'd say you got a good deal... but a 2006 with 19K? Heck no!

Another thing - a dealer in Lexington, KY had like three '07 RX-8s that I was considering buying until my '06 turned up. You might want to check there.

Yep. The Autobarn Mazda in Chicago area (Evanston?) had some '06s left over that you could get for a great price (as of two weeks ago).

You can do even better than that. My '05 GT w/ 13k miles came for $23,300

Thumbs up

Thanks to all who responded. I haven't followed new RX-8 market prices, since I am primarily looking for an E46 M3 or 330i ZHP. I just happened to see the '06 on the lot and thought it might be a decent buy. I'm glad you all gave me the straight scoop!.
