I'm currently looking for an 8 and trying to get everything together so the purchase goes as smooth as possible. Once I find a car I like I'm planning on taking it to a Mazda dealership to get it checked out just to make sure. I'm wondering what all I should expect to have performed. I know the compression check, anything else I should be requesting? Also, do I need to call ahead and have this already set up or is it a quick job where I could just show up and ask them to do it? One final question, what should I expect to pay for this service? I know it varies but just a ball park so I know if I'm getting screwed. Thanks a lot for the help, you guys have already been a lot of help to me so far.

So what YEAR around, are you looking to buy? Are you buying from Mazda? If so, why not just let their mechanics at it?

Thanks for the replies. I realized while writing the post that it was really vague. I'm probably not buying from a Mazda dealer so I was just checking to see if anyone here had taken their used RX-8 to get inspected and if so what I should expect. I didn't know if it would be the type of thing where I take it to Mazda and ask them to inspect it and they say what do you want us to inspect? Looking for an '05 or '06 by the way.
Thanks for refraining to flame me. I've been impressed with the people on this board. The Honda boards I usually frequent usually only get one page long before it's just one stupid kid arguing with another one about something not even related to the thread topic.
