undercoating, paint protection, extended warranty etc etc
Does anyone reccomend getting all the extra's they throw at you, like undercoating, paint protection, extended warranty ETC?
Whats everyones take on any of these things?
My car is a 2000 and paid for the 7 year extended warranty...2004 and i'm selling it
Sure it will help with re-sale...but not much i imagine.
Thanks for any input guys.

I think the paint protection is usually just a polymer sealant. Probably cheaper to get some Zaino and do it yourself (and I'm sure the results are much better). I can't imagine the undercoating would be good value for the money, I've never had a car rust through from the bottom. I think some of them claim to decrease the noise in the cockpit, but who really cares in a car like this.
I was wondering the same thing about the extended warranty though. I think most of these are just money grabs, like the one they tried to sell me when I bought a digital camera. For the price of these things, if it breaks after a year just throw it out and buy another, you'll want the new & improved technology by then anyway. The dealer was trying to convince me that the Mazda extended warranty was different.....
One extra that I am getting through the dealer though is the clear bra, looks like a good investment if you're going to keep the car for a while.

In general Extended Warranties at the time of purchase are a waste of money. Half-way through the dealer warranty is when you should realistically purchase these, as it saves you money and you can shop through other companies as well. You get a better deal with the wait, and won't pay as much in monthly payments on the car, as when done initially.
I agree with everything said above, not because I have extensive experience in the matter, but because I've read the many many warnings against such purchases.
The only dealer option I purchased was lowjack, for $500. With the discount I receive in insurance, it pays for itself.

I never get sealant, undercoating or any of those packs and I have never bought an extended warranty. I did buy an extended warranty for the RX-8, though, but not from the dealer. I got one from an internet vendor that my daughter the auto warranty specialist said was one that paid their bills. I have been concerned about the unproven rotary--or perhaps the perception of unproven that might affect later resale.
The dealer price was double what I paid for the warranty and the dealer coverage was not close to as comprehensive.

I'm 50/50 on the extended warranty thing. We did purchase the extended warranty to push the manufacturer's out to 10 yrs/100k miles. Is it likely that anything significant will happen in that time frame - who knows? I will throw out that we also got the extended warranty for my wife's car, and they definitely lost money on us on that one considering it cost probably twice as much for repairs on hers compared to what the warranty cost.
Basically, it's a crap shoot IMHO. It all depends on how lucky you're feeling.

Can some clarify for me if I can buy the Mazda Extended Protection Plan say a week after I've purchased the vehicle? Or do I have to buy it while I'm purchasing the vehicle?

Never buy an extended warranty from a dealship. The dealership is just the middle man charging you their fee for doing nothing. You can go through a warranty company directly and get the same or better coverage at half the price than a dealership.
