trying to oder an RX8
Hi I am a new member, I have been reading for several weeks
and so I see that others have ordered exactly what they want
I want: RX8, auto w/ touring and accent pkg in Titanium Grey.
I went down to Gilroy under the Costco car buying program,
$300 over invoice for what I want, they found one at another
dealership that's been there since middle of March w/37 miles
on it I passed on that, but they won't order one they say,
"Mazda dosen't work that way". I've gotten the same line from
the dealership in Burlingame, However when I contacted
Mazda Corp. they say "yes" you can order a car. I'm so frustrated
Can anyone tell me of a dealer in northern california who will
order this car! How about you: bye bye saturn? where did you
go? Help!

First off, the costco program gives you a price that is over invoice.
The problem is, most people, including myself, are buying the car at, or under invoice. My 6 speed with GT + Navi was $30,000.
Secondly, you can order a car, it doesn't cost anything extra, but they may ask you to put down $500 - $1000 deposit. See if you can let them do it for $500. Also, make sure you put the deposit on your credit card. That way if they try to change the deal later, you can go to your credit card company and dispute the charges. With cash or check, you are screwed.
Finally, I don't recommend ordering it.... By the time you get the car, the 2005's will be out within a few months. See what is on the lots and get whatever fits you best, or wait until the 2005's are out. If you can swing it, wait until December when car sales are lowest, then you can get a good deal on a '05.
But as I said, most are getting them at invoice pricing right now.
I personally couldn't wait for the 2005. The car is so much fun, I wanted it immediately.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply Jason. Yes, for a manual the dealer said
it would have been below invoice, but an auto is harder to find
in Calif. they have more manual's out here. And , yep I put down
$500 on a credit card which they are now crediting back to me
cause they refuse to order one. I will take your advise and call
Mazda Corp to see what is coming into port and pray its what I
want.

try the mazda usa site. you'll be able to check inventory at local dealers. you can check inventory by color and tranny, but not option packages, but a least this will get you in the ball park.

Just a heads up on the Mazdausa.com website, it lists cars that have been sold for up to a month, as well as cars that are scheduled to arrive, in excess of a month away.
So it's far from an exact science.
