Took delivery of my 2005 Shinka last night!
I am new to the world of rotary engines, but the outstanding fit, finish, four seats, and performance sold me on the RX-8 Shinka MT. Wow! What a phenominal car! I don't want to get out... I've been driving around, finding random 'errands' to do just to be in the car more. ;-)
Anyone else out there get a Shinka?
Richard

Shinka Details
I bought the car for $32K here in Los Angeles. Amazingly, the dealer had TWO of them in the showroom! The one I bought had just come in that day. They don't let you test drive the Shinka's -- you have to 'settle' for a standard RX8 for that. ;-)
Besides all the stuff the Shinka comes with, mine also had the spare tire kit and shock alarm upgrade. I'm going to try out the 1-year of SIRIUS satellite radio (included free) today.
The 6-speed manual transmission shifts like a dream. Very short throw shifter, very smooth clutch. Wonderful!
I will try to take some pics this weekend and post them. It is a truly stunning vehicle.

Time for you to showoff the new ride! Come to the Mazdatech Challenge at the Mazda US HQ in Irvine on March 19th. A bunch of people will be there, so it could be a good chance for you to ask some questions, or simply see what you would possibly like to do to your car later on.

Good buy. Nice car. I drove a Shinka and really liked it. I just can't get away from all black cars though. This is my 3rd new car and 3rd black one.
Enjoy and show off your ride.

Oops! Missed a feature!
I missed the most obvious extra my Shinka has: the full appearance package (skirts, rear wing, chrome rotor emblems). Makes a HUGE difference in the overall sexiness of the car.
Thank you so much for the warm welcomes. I would like to see if I can join you guys in Irvine.
Have a great rotary-filled weekend!
Richard
PS: Dealer was Mazda Alhambra. It was $34K OTD.

I ordered Shinka today. I live in Japan (not Japanese). I will get it 10th April. Japanese Shinka is called "Sport Prestige Limited". There is two versions E-type, which has automatic transmission and S type with high power engine and manual. I took 250hp manual. I also took optional navigation system with 30GB harddisk for MP3 & TV. Let's see, how I learn to shift gears with "wrong" hand...

Welcome to the Shinka Club!
Hi Richard -
Nice to have another Shinka on the board - I think this makes 3 of us - one in Vancouver, one in Indianna and LA.
I've had mine a little over a month and really enjoy driving it. I might be able to take it to a car meet at a beach in Vancouver tomorrow - seems there is a gathering of car enthusiasts that last year had over 300 sports cars attend. If I go I'll take lots of pics and of course post them.
Hope you have many years of enjoyment - welcome!

Shinka for me too
Hi to all: New on board. My local dealer just got one (Shinka MT) in and I bought it yesterday. Xtras are Appearance Package, Spoiler, Rotary Accents, Shock Sensor upgrade, Spare Tire Kit, Wheel Locks. Pick it up day after tomorrow. Can't wait. Never owned a sports car before, let alone an RX-8. Always been a go-fast-in-a-straight-line muscle car fanatic. This will be a new thing for me. My first add-on will be fender strakes. Love what they do for the look of the RX-8. Where's a good place to buy them (fender strakes) at a reasonable price? Has any ever had damage with the totally exposed coolers/ condenser low on the front end or been concerned with their apparent vunerability to small stones and such? Thanks.
