Should I be worried?

I've had my RX8 for about a month now. When I bought it the window sticker was not on the vehicle and a search along with the salesperson of all the usual places - glove box, trunk, etc, failed to turn it up. I was promised that they'd look for it and send it along, and I took delivery.

A discussion a few days a few days later resulted in me being told that they could not find it and would send for a new one. I've still heard nothing. The title came and the car's been registered.

It had a little over two hundred miles on it when I took delivery, with the explanation being that it was driven in from a dealership in a neighboring city in an exchange of vehicles. I don't have any reason to doubt that at present, as the car is pristine. It seems new in every respect, there is no evident wear, and I just love the thing.

Still, I have that nagging little voice in the back of my head that won't seem to go away. "Is there something in the car's history that's being hidden?" "Did someone take delivery and then return it?" I probably still would have bought the car, but then again maybe I would've taken the other one they had on the lot that was identical except for the color. At a minimum I would've negotiated for a different price.

Any thought are appreciated.

Print out the wikipedia article and tell them to find the damn thing. They can face a $1000 fine for selling it without!

Monroney sticker
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the United States, all new automobiles are required to include an official form listing certain information about the car; this window sticker is commonly called a Monroney sticker in the industry (or simply a window sticker), named after Almer Stillwell "Mike" Monroney, the Oklahoma senator who sponsored the Automobile Information Disclosure Act of 1958.

The sticker is required to be affixed to the side window or windshield of every new car sold in the United States. A fine of US $1,000 per vehicle is applied if the sticker is missing. The sticker is not required, and the act does not apply, for vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of more than 8500 pounds (3856 kg).

The sticker must include the following information:

* The manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP)
* Engine and transmission specifications
* Standard equipment and warranty details
* Optional equipment and pricing
* City and highway fuel economy ratings, as determined by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

Yup. It's pretty easy to find out if the car was previously titled.
