Should I go for more???
Hey there guys & gals,
here's the deal:
2007 RX8 GT {Everything but the navigation}
window sticker price ------------ 32,400
invoice ------------------------------29,600
after 2750 rebates TTT -------------- 27,800
I just applied for the additional $800 close-out coupon from mazda, so I'm going to try to get that added to get it down to 27,000 flat.
Do I need to work this amount a little more or should I be satisfied that I'm getting a good deal ?????
Thanks

Here's the 2007 I'm looking at:
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...om/sticker.jpg
Pretty basic, but basic is what I want. My Mazda 6 is paid down pretty well, to the point where I have a couple thousand dollars positive equity in it. I plan to keep the 6 and just drive the RX-8 on weekends. In other words, I'm just buying a toy for the heck of it.
The dealership general manager wanted to do everything in a package- refinance my 6 at a lower interest rate (doesn't matter much since I overpay anyway) and lease or sell me the RX-8 for $25,000 with nothing down. In other words, I coulda had both cars yesterday without a penny out of my pocket. But I told him 25k was too much. His response was "I'm already selling it 2500 below invoice, how low do you want to go?" I kinda laughed. I got screwed on the 6, should have paid at minimum 2000 less than I did (Bose "upgrade"?!? Yah! Cost me a grand to replace that garbage!), even after the 2500$ rebate. So I wasn't about to settle this time. "Invoice" is BS anyway. Nobody sells anything for a loss.
Had he gone down to 24k yesterday I might have taken the offer. Now I'm thinking about taking my chances and waiting for the 08's to roll in and go even lower on my offer. Possibly 22k once they have some 08's on the lot. This one is Phantom Blue, and I love that color, and I hope it's still there. But if it sells before then, so be it. I'm going to get my 6 refinanced probably through my credit union, since he wouldn't do the re-fi unless I got the RX-8, but I refused to be locked into anything. Ticked me off, since I bought the 6 from the same place last year.
So, is 24k a reasonable goal to shoot for right now, or take my chances that it won't sell before the 2008's hit the lot, and go for less? I want the car, I don't need it, so it won't kill me to not have an extra bill every month.

Ah well, I wound up walking anyway. The finance guy at the end tried to screw me and pissed me off. I told him 4 or 5 times that I didn't want the stupid extended warranty, and he tried to sneak it in there anyway and hide it in the payments. Actually had the nerve to tell me he was "giving it to me" until I asked what the extra 900$ was on the lease agreement. I took the paperwork to the GM and told him I was walking because of all the time I had invested just to get screwed in the end. I'm gonna sleep on it, but I think I'll just get my check back in the morning and say the hell with it and just pay off my 6. Unless they make me even a better deal in the morning. I hated walking away from the car, but dang it that made me mad.

I had a dealer back in 06 **** me off so bad while signing the final papers, that I actually refused to go any further & walked out. Not before telling the manager what a bunch of dicks they all are. I could see all the creeps standing up and looking out the window in disbelief, at me driving away.
So, now whenever I go car shopping I bring along a few printouts from sites like xxx.stopautofraud.com & xxx.carbuyingtips.com and leave it out on the desk for them to see as we talk business. That reallly distracts them and they start singing a different tune. One salesman recently tried to cover it over with paperwork as we were talking and I lifted his papers up looked them over and placed them off to the side so he could see the printouts again ......... very amusing, to say the least.
There definately needs to be some NEW regulations for car dealerships, because they're getting worst as the years of operating unchecked go by.
