should I get it: new 2005 rx8 6spd no options $22,604

So my dealer has a new 2005 velocity red rx-8 6spd with no options for $22604. It is in fine fine condition but does have 700 test drive miles on it. I guess invoice is $25,604. What do you think? Should I jump on it or keep looking?

IMHO, If I'm going to purchase a "New" car, I don't want ANY test miles. Especially the RX-8 which requires a break-in period. I requested my new one to be delivered on a transport truck directly form the port then driven only where it had to be to get it prepped and ready for me to pickup. I was willing to pay the difference. Not knowing your financial situation, you may not be able to come up with the difference. But, if you work it out on paper, it's really not that much more a month. My 2 cents!

I wouldn't do it just for the fact that: Test drive miles = hard....im willing to bet just about everyone that test drove it redlined it, as thats a selling point for the rx8. For the first 600miles, your supposed to be 'nice' to the rx8...700 test drive miles isnt being nice for those first 600 miles.

If theyre offering it to you for 22600, they can probably go as low as 20K on it it seems as a pretty good deal to me, if, (and a big if at that) they'll honor the FULL warranty. Hell, where is it, I'll take it

If you don't mind getting a used car then get an '04 with tons of options. It will probably cost you about the same if not less with every option available. IMO a car with 700 miles on it "new" from a dealer is still a used car.

With full warranty, that's a good price.

Was it a demo?

I beat the crap out of my rsx-s for 25K miles. still it drove as good as new when I sold it. That is one solid car. If only honda made a rear wheel drive coupe....

For some strange reason, I am not comfortable doing the same with my RX-8 This car made me a more conservative driver.

Anyways, I wouldn't be too worried about the miles. You have 4 years and 50K miles of warranty. Mazda should take care you....

Bought my gt rx8 as a demo with 2.3k miles on it for $28.5k. Had the car 2 years and runs fabulously. I have 13k on it now and never a problem with it. i think you have a good deal there. It's hard to damage a rotary on break in. Some say there is no break-in period. Others say this car is not really broke in till 30k miles. Whatever, it's a good deal and I would'nt worry about the few miles on it.

I would back away from that one.
My friend test drove an RX8 6 speed with me and he tore the hell out of it, I got in the car and had the urge to step on it, but I realized that its a beautiful car and its also going to be owned by someone one day.

If you do end up getting that RX8, make sure your Dealership agrees to fix anything that happens that may have been caused by test drives.

Ive got ma RX-8 GT with full options such as heat and power seats, Nav and DVD,

6 spd, 18' rims, black/red interior, HID on both, rotary accent frond and rear,

rear spolier..and so on.

When I got it, it had already 500 miles on it. but I bought it for $27,000.

Even thogh people say do not buy a demo car, which is test drive car, if you

think you like the car, just take them. The car could be getting worse or better,

depend on how you take care your car.

Since now, there is no problme on my car except vibration on high speed.

I went to dealer and they are going to fix it, nothing worry about it.

Absolutely no charge and they will rent a car to me for 2~3 days as exactly as

same model, whihch is RX-8 light silver. I am satisfied with my car.

Im saying is, I am the owner who have RX-8 that had 500 miles ont it when I

take it, and still runs good. Please take your time before buy a car,

and visit lots of dealers and compare prices.

It is a 6spd with NO options. No sport package or anything. Another mazda dealer is offering me one with less miles. It is a new 2005 white rx-8 6spd with sport package only for $23854 which I guess invoice is $26854. Would you consider that a good deal. Is the sport package and fewer miles worth the extra $1254.

Sports package is worth it. That's what I have.

Is that price out the door, with tax, title, etc.?

If so, that's an AMAZING price.

No. In my state you pay the tax/title etc at the license bureau but you dont have to pay the sales tax on the amount of your trade so I would be looking at about $400 tax/title according to the states website. Another dealer is offering me $22389 for a titanium gray 6spd No options with about 100 miles on it. I am just having a hard time seeing how the sport is worth $1300, isnt it just HID lights and DSC traction control. Those seem like things I can do without. Is DSC very useful.

The Sports Package is worth every penny - It includes DSC (which is a necessity, especially on a rear wheel drive car IMO), xenon HID, and fog lamps.

So let me understand - you are saying $23,834? Or $23,834 after a trade-in?

If it's $23,834, with sports package, plus $400 tax/title, without trade-in, you are stealing the car.

It is $23,854 for the white one with sports pkg, NO TRADE. I will have to pay about $400 tax/title after i buy it at the license bureau, or I can pay $22389 for a titanium grey 6spd no options or $22604 for a velocity red 6spd no options. How often and when would you notice DSC. I honestly dont think I will care about hid or fog lights.

You'll notice DSC whenever you're on a slippery surface, whether rain, sleet or snow.

You'll also notice it if you ever lose control of your rear end, whether on slippery roads, loose gravel or even dry pavement. It will bring your car back in line.

It's a safety system that works, and works well.

That white RX-8 is a raging bargain. If you don't buy it, post the dealership name and salesperson's name and number for someone else here .

DSC is worth it. I think it is a great feature to have for everyday driving, unless you are a real expert with RWD cars. I do see it kick in, especially on wet roads. HIDs are not a must but definitely a nice to have. They illuminate the road well, compared to cars like the Acura TL. I think the sport package is great value for money. I was looking for one before I found a decent deal on a GT. Touring and GT are no big deal if you are not into leather and "premium" bose audio.
