"Right" price for a NEW 05 RX-8?

So I was at a local dealer today, and looking at the RX-8s on the lot. Lots of 07's, and a single 05 which has apparently been sitting there for two years or so...

Price is currently $23995. They tell me it's rock-solid firm, as it's under what they paid.

I'd like to get it for less. What should I offer?

Just to give you an idea. I have a 2005 sport 6mt just hit 24k. I work for an infiniti dealer so i pulled the blue book in case i decide to buy out my lease. My car whole sales for a little over 19k. offer them 20k the worst they can say is no. if they say no then ask them what they can do if they stick to there price then you know they cant do anything more

what package it has ? thats should be the question.

but I would try at LEAST 10K off MSRP. that should be something that you should aim for.

and REMEMBEr, tell them to change all the fluids before you take the car(if u do get it)

I paid $24,800 out the door for my 05 GT 6MT last June. I'd only offer them $21,000 or $22,000 out the door.

I saw it also. A local dealer has 4 06 Shinkas for $26-27k and thats before negotiating. I'm anticipating out the door for $25ish for a new 06. $23k for an 05 is believable. I went shopping this weekend. No one is moving sports cars in snow country right now. A search of the Wisconsin & Chicagoland dealer websites turned up alot of new 06s on the lots along with the 07s.

It really depends on the area. In Texas, I couldn't get a dealer to ship a Shinka to me, I was willing to pay over $27. USED ones in Texas are listed for 25-27k. I did find a used Copper Red I'm going to buy, may not be the best price but I'm sick of waiting.

Cu Red Shinka MT, Hall Mazda - Waukesha, WI. $25K. Was too rich for my blood but what a great color. With shipping, you're likely better off paying more & staying local.
