Nervous about an 04, need suggestions
I've been reading through the site since I first started looking to get an rx8.
Now that my dd has been sold I can get the 8.
I found an 04 GT with less than 1k miles on it for 21K. I really like the deal but I had read that there was some recalls on 04 stuff. Can all that be fixed by a trip to the dealer without cost to me (flashing and replacing starter)?
Also, it doesnt have the rear spoiler on it. Can I get a dealer to install a factory spoiler?

Personally, as a future Rx-8 buyer myself, I would avoid the 04 model year. Also I'd be curious as to why it only has 1k miles.
I will grant that not ALL 04's are bad if all the recalls are done.
As for the spoiler, again my personal opinion is that it looks better without one. But if you are interested in one I would recommend the Mazda Speed spoiler. It looks better than the stock spoiler and has a limited amount of functionality to it while still being in good taste.

OK, I went and test drove it and everthing seems in working order. All the recalls have been done at the dealer.
It only had 400 miles on it because it was purchased as a high school graduation gift and the son didn't want to drive a stick .
Anything else I should look out for on the 04s? If not then I think I'm going to pick it up next friday.

Yeah pretty much. The uncle drove it to the dealership a couple of times to get the recall/comp updates and a couple times to work.
Its in really nice condition and I'm glad I found it. I pick it up this week and I'll post some pics in the general discussion area.
