Need some motivation

Well guys...i went in and test drove an 8 last week and honestly it was the most fun driving experience ive had ever. I was in limbo between buying an 8 and an 05 mustang, but i definately am going with the 8 now. I currently own a mustang and im entirely too tired of seeing a billion of them on the road. I remember one time i was driving home in my mustang from camping and counted 31 mustangs on the way home. So im sold on the rx-8.

Only thing is that im 19 years old staring down the barrel of buying a 30k dollar car. Im in the military, so honestly i can afford it, the only thing is that i have to pay more of my mustang off because i got shafted on that deal. I was a dummy and bought a car from the first dealership right out of the gate. So, im stuck frantically saving money until january (the latest date i will wait to buy). Basically, i need to save 500 a month which is alright, but im living of 140 dollars a month in food, so i forsee some major weightloss in the future.

Anyhoo, im just looking for some encouraging words and to for people to tell me how much the love thier 8 cuz ive got 10 months of severe budgeting to do. Take care all and thankyou.

Well I can appreciate the fact that you have developed a plan and are trying to stick to a calculated budget, but it seems to me that you are taking on a degree of financial risk in order to purchase this vehicle. I definitely think that you will enjoy the car, but if it ends up hurting your pocketbook, then it might ruin the whole experience for you.
Wish you luck, no matter what you end up choosing to do.

i agree. there is no sense in putting yourself through a financial hardship over the next 8 months for a car.

however, if you are dead set on doing it all i can say is wait a little longer until the 06's are around a few months. dealerships will be desperate to get rid of any 05's and you can end up with a great deal. i know my dealership was just clearing out a couple 04's for around $22K.

Very good points. At this very moment, i absolutely hate my mustang so im pretty dead set on buying this car. Im not entirely as bad off as it sounds, once i change my state residency i will get another 180 dollars (state taxes are killer). I found a really cool dealer at the local mazda dealership and he seemed very reasonable. I chose the end of january because by that time i will finally have broke even on my mustang, and i figure not too many people have the money to buy new cars right after christmas and soo close to tax season again. I figure...at the worst after buying this car it will cost me 500-600 a month for payment and insurance...which leaves me with a comfortable 600 dollars of spending cash each month.

Great choice, but it sounds like a lot for you to take on. IMHO, save your money for a year or so for a nice downpayment. You'll find that big monthly payments get old to have to pay each month, for five years or whatever. Good luck.
