You should get your insurance through AAA in CA. They always get good ratings and are decently priced. I was using Mercury at first because they are dirt cheap, but i switched because of Mercury's poor reputation.

eSurance blows ***. I had an accident with my 2002 Camaro SS, and it took them over 8 months to handle it... and even then, months later, I was still dealing with BS.

Progressive rocks.

I chose Progressive after a few years ago some lady crossed 5 lanes of traffic and said hello to the front of my car as I was cruising down in the 6th lane. Basically, all those 5 lanes had openings but were busy, and she couldn't see my lane. I'm driving along and then all of a sudden there is a car in front of me and WHAM!

She completely accepted responsibility and I was mostly glad neither of us were hurt in any way. I admit I was irritated mostly because just THREE MINUTES earlier I had gotten my car fixed after it had been dead for about a month.

Anyway, her insurance was through Progressive. Progressive had great customer service and took care of my claim no problem at all. When the paint guy said that he couldn't match the paint exactly, I told Progressive that I wouldn't accept a two-tone car, and they completely agreed. They sent an agent over to investigate the color the same day to see if it needed repainting. I was really impressed! (As it turns out, that paint guy was *really* discriminating. I looked right at it and couldn't see any difference in color at all. Unlike my 8's rear spoiler..grr)

So, I don't know how they treat you the customer if the accident is your fault, but they certainly treated me well when I was not their customer. They also have good rates for me. Their "compare rates online" commercials make me shout at my TV in frustration, though. "Imagine how good we'll treat you once you're a customer." it says. Well, once you're a customer, you can no longer compare rates online like they advertise. Lame!!

^ Minor gripe though. Progressive is good.

Mercury.

I had an accident about 4 years ago and they took care of it quickly and without any problems.
