Talking My Purchase

Just starting a thread to document my buying experience. Today I am making my first attempt at purchasing an RX-8 from a local dealer. Just checked the autocheck history and it came up clean, one owner. The dealer started at 17k in november, and I have patiently got them down to 14k. In that time I have been constantly reading these forums for information, very helpful. It is a 2005 blue touring with 55,000 miles. Interior is immaculate, looks brand new. Exterior is great except for a minor curb rash on a rim. I am going for second test drive today to get on a highway (I-95). If all goes well, I am trying to purchase either today, monday, or tuesday. Also trying to get the price down justa little bit more . I will keep anyone who cares posted about this experience. Might be just whatever to you, but I am very excited. It will be my first...
  • True sports car
  • Leather interior
  • Non-Honda
  • 4 door
  • Car I finance myself
  • Car without pistons
  • Rear Wheel Drive
  • 6 speed (always driven MT though)
  • OEM HID (although my civic had a sweet 4300k projector retrofit, not a shitty plug and play that blinds people)
  • I can go on and on.
I have liked rotary cars since high school with my buddy's bright yellow RX-7 (not sure the year but it was the last body style before discontinued in US). I think it was twin turbo, the thing seemed like a supercar to me back then. This is still when I drove a 1991 Honda CRX, just about to buy a 01 civic ex. Unlike the past, I am all grown up and don't see the point of ricey mods anymore. This one will most likely stay just the way Mazda wanted it, iPod/aux connection being a must though.

Just wait til you find out the mods you can put on this car, not to mention the appearance mods that don't make the car look like ***.

I think the RX-8 is one of the few cars that has so many body kits that actually make the car look good.

I'd agree. I thought the RX-8 looked great stock, until I saw one for sale with the Mazdaspeed bodykit. That one's pretty mild, but you can go as crazy as you want with other kits as well. Then again, many people on here seem perfectly content with a bone stock car, so I guess you really can't go wrong. Good luck with your purchase. I'm also on the hunt for one, too.

Purchased (financed rather). I can't stop thinking about driving this car! Actually, it hasn't really set in yet, except while im driving. I'm sure I will have many questions for the forums in the near future, but right now i am going to read the owner's manual to figure out some of the controls and such. Pictures will be up monday-ish.
