Modified Car Insurance

Does anyone know the best place to inquire about modified car insurance for the rx8?

Geico originally insured me and just recently decided to cancel my policy due to aftermarket mods that I reported.

turbo and complete induction system

some other small things

If you don't report some mods they can void your policy and you get nothing in the event of an accident.

Geico asked me if I had any mods while applying for the policy - they told me over the phone that if i didn't report them that they could void my policy if I was in an accident. I reported them like a good boy.. 5 months later they send me a letter telling me that my car is being removed due to 'unacceptable modifications"

I'm close to finding a company to insure me, I will post results for anyone else interested.

My insurance covers audio equipment only (Unitrin Direct). I thought that as kind of odd. But then again they are a smaller provider.

almost all insurance companies will not cover after market parts you put on your car unless you get a waiver for them. read your policy.. those pretty body kits, those awesome wheels, that sexy suspension system... none of that is covered unless your policy specifically includes it in writing or by waiver.

FYI if they don't ask about mods and you get in an accident and they refuse to cover it "They didnt ask me" isnt a valid reason and they most likely will not cover the loss over stock.

I worked for so cal auto club a number of years ago in car insurance and was suprised how few people really know their policies.

I currently work for a top 5 insurance company and we for sure can add the mods to your policy. Of course your rate will go up a bit but we can do it. All you have to do is tell us what you have one there. Easy?
