Looking to buy an '06 Shinka tomorrow...at a no haggle lot

I found two lots in the area that have the '06 Shinka I'm pretty set on and both are no-haggle. They both are saying MSRP is $34,779 with a selling price of $31,779 after $3000 in rebates. Does this seem reasonable, and if not, is it even possible to bargain for a lower price at these places? Given that they are both asking exact prices for identical cars, it seems like I would easily be able to get them to compete a little for my buisness.

What is anyone's take on these places?

I only got $2K off a 2006 Shinka so 3K is great on a 2006.

Are you going to finance or Lease ? because it sounds like they're just giving you the Rebates from Mazda and MNAC. Bascially speaking they're still selling the car at MSRP to you.

Get them something lower. Tell them "forget" about the rebates, lets just talk about the msrp first"

At least get it closer to invoice price.

Look up MSRP on the mazda website to make sure that they are actually selling at MSRP for your area, then follow the info from the guy above. Basically they don't take a hit when it comes to rebates and they are getting the full price of the car from you. You see the benefits of a lower priced car or have to choose between the rebate or the lower interest rates (assuming that you will finance) that are often offered at the same time as the rebates.

I got my new '05 Shinka this February—in Union, NJ—for about $4800 below MSRP (with trade-in and Mazda financing). The dealer had three available. I feel like I got a fairly good price for a new Shinka because it was last year's model. Of course, I could've bought a new '05 non-Shinka and saved a few thousand more. (Maybe not in northern NJ, but who cares—I would've traveled a thousand miles or so to save the bucks.)

If it were me, I'd either wait—I bet there will be leftover '06 Shinkas for many months with lower and lower prices—or do a Mazda inventory search and see if you can find one for less somewhere else. If you find one in, let's say… St. Louis, for $2K less, wouldn't it be worth the trip to buy it there?

MSRP is a worthless number, forget it even exists...you want invoice, plus a few hundred dollars, minus incentives.

Hedge,

You never posted your closing price on ur '06. Can you do so using the format in the closing price thread? I didn't do so well, only 2k below MSRP without tax so I am curious how other 06 Shinkas did.

Just a quick FYI, which I'll elaborate on later when I have more time, I picked up the Shinka. Called both dealers and none would compete etc, so window price is what you get at no haggle places. I ended up leaving at right around 34k with all taxes etc. Got to say I absolutely love the car and don't miss my Grand Prix GTP one bit.

Spyder,

Nice! I also had trouble getting a whole lot off the 06 Shinka and my MSRP was around same as yours so I feel better now. My out the door was $34,671 similar to urs (bout $2K saving off MSRP total). The 06 Shinka are surely harder to get big deals on.

Please be sure to post your purchase deal at this thread so we can all learn your technique https://www.rx8club.com/purchasing-financing-insurance-56/what-your-closing-price-85525/page4/ . Glad to finally meet another 06 Shinka owner. There aren't many here!!!

What color BTW?

Werd, just posted...essentially they gave me $190 over invoice, then i got the $1000 mazda rebate at the time and took the mazda financing for another $500 rebate.

They were actually really happy to sell an RX8! I was a bit suprised, as i expected them to try and command a premium on the car, being a "Limited Edition". :-P

Well is your money, your choice but.

If I were you, I will call a couple more dealers , even the one thats not in your state (somewhere that you can reach, you know)

Because Paying MSRP is just , sorry to say, Stupid. and not only this car, this applies to every other car out there.

Since Buying a car is an investment, a very "stupid" one since it will ONLY lose value.(if you can kee 100 years that different) So you might want to save yourself more to minimize the lost

I know you could pay more, but why ?

MSRP isn't a very good deal, but in fairness, maybe current Shinkas aren't discounted as much as other 8's. Has anyone saved big on an '06 Shinka?

It's Copper Red, and I don't feel bad paying this price because I couldn't find this color anywhere in the Midwest at the time. I still think it's a reasonable price for a car of this caliber. I love everything about it, and I've never once had buyer remorse. To hell with investment. Investments should give you a return on your money. Enjoyment is the only important factor of a car for me.

Rebates are just coupns that everyone gets. It is nothing special to you or the next guy. The car is till being sold at sticker to you whether they give you the rebate or not. All they do is bill mazda for a 3k rebate and they still get their money. Like NYCGPS said talk MSRP first then worry about the rebate. That will be better for you in the long run.
