Great site with lots of info and good people.
Right now I have a 2008 Si Sedan. I do like the car but it's not what I wanted.

Since 2003 I've always wanted an RX-8. But mechanical issues and other things kept me away. But after seeing the R3 in person I've come to the conclusion that this is the car I want. Plus the timing is right. I recently started a new job. It's very stable and it pays well.

Any ideas on the lease deals for the R3? Right now I'm paying $380 for my Si.
I rather lease than finance. 2-3 year lease would do.

I don't have an R3 but I got the Touring + premium package which has an MSRP of ~30k and I managed to do a trade in + negotiate the price down to 26,000$ and then do a down payment of 1,000$ and negotiated 15k miles per year for 36 months at 399.99$/mo (tax IS included in that 399).


Not sure how close to that you could get with an R3, it did take me about 3 months to get the dealership to accept the deal though, in the meantime they kept telling me the car would be sold soon, it's unique, etc etc..

 

I live in Toronto. I had an 04 RX8, black GT with the two tone leather interior. It was purchased new in April 2005. My mom has been leasing a Ford religiously for the last 12 years. I convinced her this time as the lease was up to go with a 2009 Mazda6. When we went into the dealership I always use for servicing. The owner convinced me to trade my car in and purchase demo 2009 RX8 R3 with just over 8000 kms. I was skeptical at first but have come to love my new sparkling black beauty. Finally to answer your question the car was roughly $38000 all taxes in at 2.4% financing for 84 months and costs just under $500 cdn monthly. I know 84 months is a long time but it keeps the payments low and I will have it paid off in 4- 4.5 years like the last one.

Since the R3 came out last fall every dealership around here has given me the same crap about the uniqueness and rarity of this car as their defense on why they wont negotiate on price and how they were getting offers almost every day for it. Here it is almost 7 months later and the exact same r3s are still sitting on the lots. Don't buy any of that BS from any dealer. If the car was indeed that rare and in demand they would have been snached up the second they hit the lots last fall. I know at the present time if you wanted to purchase and not lease the price of the R3 should be in the 28,xxx range. I might get one but Ill wait for a used one or until the end of the year when there are huge rebates again. These cars aren't going anywhere. Plus by then we will know if there will be a 2010 MY or not or possibly more info on the when the 16x might appear.

 

I received the same comment regarding how "unique" and "rare" the R3 was and how they couldn't lower down the price of the vehicle. I simply told them, if you are not lowering the price, then I'm not interested in making any deal period with them. Almost 5 minutes past, and they told me "you win" and have a pending deal for 28,xxx.

Now for leases, I'm sure you can get one for around 475 per month (given same rates that Darklord got). *I saw that you are in NJ... I know for Florida, it takes a little longer to negotiate for getting a good deal, however I'm sure in NJ you can possibly get a better deal for the price of the R3. Location has always been a major influence in car price/sale. Good luck!

My lease is ending this week, so I'm stuck into buying a used R3 (2 yrs left on warranty and 3k difference) to a new one. We'll see...

I see there is now a $2500 incentive on the '09s. That should knock the price down between 26-27k for an R3. I figure invoice pricing-2500-1500 dealer holdback (they accidentally showed that to me a couple of weeks ago)
