Red face Latest Rebates a/o 1/5/04

According to Edmonds web site, the current RX-8 incentives are:

$1500 Cash to Customer start: 01/04/2005 end: 02/28/2005 Get Dealer Pricing
Restrictions Customer bonus cash is only available to those who finance with Mazda American Credit. This may be combined with other cash offers but cannot be combined with special APR.
Comments Incentives may vary; see your local dealer for details.

$1500 Cash to Customer start: 01/04/2005 end: 02/28/2005 Get Dealer Pricing
Restrictions $1500 Customer cash may not be combined with 3.9% APR
Comments Incentives may vary; see your local dealer for details.

Or 3.9% financing for 12 or 60 months.

Mazda's web site still has the old rebates (which are basically the same as these) expiring 1/3/05.

Does anyone have any more information? Also, Edmonds doesn't show any cash to dealer incentives - can anyone shed any light on that? This group has got to have one of the greatest intelligence operations going - time for some undercover work!!

I assume that this is for 2004 only. The web site does not show anything for 2005 RX-8s.

It appears from this that Mazda has upped the ante on rebates if one uses Mazda for financing. The deal at the end of the year was the $1500 incentive on purchase or lease and up to $2500 additional if the vehicle was leased. Now it appears to be up to $3000 incentive on a (financed) purchase. Nothing to prevent the buyer from paying off the loan with savings or alternative financing, however.

An excellent deal if the dealer sets the starting point at invoice, as my dealer did when I purchased in November.

As noted above, however, all these incentives apply only to 2004 vehicles. I doubt seriously that Mazda will add significant incentives to the 2005 models for awhile. However, the incentives on the 2004 model may drive the price of the 2005 model to close to invoice.

If you're purchasing, remember to avoid discussion of a trade-in until the purchase deal is set. Otherwise, you'll find the negotiations very confusing (and not to your advantage.)

I wonder what the shortest term them will fiance for with the additional $1,500 rebate, and is there a prepayment penality (like the old rule of 78's). Could I finance it, and after one month pay it off without penality? Any idea what the interest rate would be - if you use the 3.9% you can't get the additional $1,500.

Update on Rebates:
$1,500 rebate if you finance through Mazda Credit. Told you have to finance a minimum of $8,000, for at least three months. There is no prepayment penality.

$750 Cash to Customer
$750 Dealer Incentive Cash.
