insurance companies

a friend of mine, and the previous owner of my rx8 used usaa and had really low rates. however, not being in the military i cant get in on that sweet action.

i use geico and i will pay 5 grand a year. i feel totally shafted. anyone have a good insurance company to turn to?

im 20, my rx8 is red.

Just shop around. Find the best quote for you. You can't really ask other people since insurance varies by location, driving record, type of use, etc...one person can get a better rate at say State Farm but another will have a lower premium using All State.

Hey guys Im new to the forum just bought an 07 Galaxy Grey Rx-8 for $20k which imo is not bad. Im still 18 and live in So CAL so I have no idea what my insurance is going to be like. Do any of you know what company will insure me for the least or at least at decent rates?

Strange, I did just the opposite. Dumped SF for Geico years ago. Couldn't be happier.

So you just bought a new car and don't have insurance yet?

Age is going to be a big factor. My premiums dropped considerably after 30. At 18 be prepared to pay a hefty premium for full coverage.

I had USAA and droped them because, The Harors was cheeper for a 12 month policy and USAA was only a 6 month policy. Yes the 12 month is cheeper than the 6 month. I can not understand it but more money in my pocket.

I use USAA. Even with a $250 deductible, I'm paying about $60 a month. I had Geico before that, and they considered the 8 a 4 door sedan for insurance purposes and I was paying about $110 a month.

Well, I'm a day or two over 23 years old...

I also have renters insurance on mine, and I haven't had a ticket since July 14th 1996!

I'm way over 30 years old, and two other cars, and live in Michigan, which is notorious for being a "no-fault" State. I pay $68.51/month (822.12/year) with State Farm and just received a notice that it's dropping next month. I have a 2005 RX8, 6-spd manual.

Jesus Christ! Over five years your insurance will cost as much as the car. Man..............

I use a company called Merastar, they used to be owned by Prudential, I think they may be a geico subsidiary now, I get great rates through them I'm only paying $712.00 a year for full coverage, uninsured motorist, 100K deductible on my new 8, but I have used them for 17 years, never had an at fault, and only had one ticket in my life (knock on wood).

Have you tried Progresive and E-surance, some of those TV companies that promise online comparisons? Progressive gave me a fair quote while I was shopping for my 8 but it was still higher than my primary carrier.

Good luck out there, I feel for ya, those rates sound brutal..
