I'm a newbie, is this a good deal?

Hi All,

I've wondered on over here from the Miata.net forums and have been kicking around the idea of getting into an RX-8. I recently located a new Lighting Yellow 04 that listed for $29,359 and the dealer via e-mail has offered the car for $26,887. It's a 6sp sport with mud guards, spoiler, spare tire kit and rotary accent pkg. Is this a good deal?

I got the nordic green sport package, 6sp,spoiler, 6 cd in dash and spare tire for 24,700. I think they can go lower.

I priced out the options and came out with $29,459 MSRP, $27,063 invoice. Sounds like $26,887 is a very good deal as long as thats before any incentives. if its after incentives, see what incentives you qualify for and start at $27,063.

You need to get a least $1K in back of invoice right now. If it's a car they have in inventory they are very willing to deal.

And I think the $1500 rebate or 3.9%APR is the only offical incentive offered, but like I stated before these things need to move.

Just bought mine two days ago. 04 6MT, Ti, sport pkg, spoiler $1200 below invoice. Could have gotten them lower, but car was 200 mi. away at another dealer.

If that's a 2005, thats a great deal.

If it's a 2004, thats a bad deal. People were able to go 3500 under invoice with the incentives mazda had to dealers to move the old stock. Not sure what incentives are still available.

Last Monday I was able to get an 04 6spd black sport for 3100 under invoice. That was before the rebate but I qualified for 3.9 financing anyway so you may be able to get the rabate AND the 3.9. I said no thanks and got 3.1 from my credit union. Long Beach Mazda in SoCal is currently advertising $7k off sticker on 2004's. If only I'd waited a week. I still got a great deal and love the car. I did a twisty mountain run with the local Porsche club yesterday and easily hung with all the built 911's. Fun!

Great deal for a '05. Sounds like a fair deal for a '04 Yellow (given that color is no longer being offered.) you should check the build date and mileage on the car.
You can probably get them to come down more especially if they don't know about the color change for '05.

You can use Edmunds.com to help you with msrp vs invoice pricing.

I think I'm gonna head up there tomorrow and see what I can do. It will also depend on what they are willing give me for my trade ('01 Miata LS).

Well, except for any complete disasters I'll be signing the paperwork today after work. They actually let me take the care home last night without signing ANY paperwork. The only thing they did was run my credit. The final selling price of the car was $24k and change. They paid off my '01 Miata that I owed $12k on. Now I gotta spen the next 2 days removing my exhuast, sound system and wheels/tires from the Miata to return it to stock which is how they prefer it. Check out the Miata if anybody is interested in the parts (or knows somebody that might be) let me know.
