I'm to angry and kinda sad to explain much right now, but after 500 miles and lie after lie....

My dream of owning an 8 is over. They tell me I can't get 350@72 even with my 3g's down and trade in. So, while I love the car I just can't afford it. It's really sad to come to this conclusion but after the HELL I went through today, I'm sad to say that I'm done with the 8.

Baring a miricle, I'll will forever remain rx8wannahave...nothing more.

I'm so tired, and I know I should not hate anyone...but I'm really close to it in regards to car salesman and dealerships. Again, I don't have the energy to go into what happend today...but I'm done.

I guess I'm just too poor...LOL, to own an 8. So, I'm not sure what is going to happen next but I probably wont stick around in the website. Most people here have been helpful and I thank you all for the information but without the car there will always be something missing.

GOD BLESS

Enjoy your 8's!

Not sure what's next...but just thought I'd share...CU

Wow, I really don't like to here this. How about a used one. How about dealing over the phone instead of in person. How about leasing. I'm sure you have been thorough. I would hate for you to make a decision based on one dealer.

Would also hate to not see your post anymore. I hope you reconsider both.

Your feelings are totally understandable... some dealers can be ******. Just out of curiosity (since you are placing your anger directly at the salesmen and dealers) did you try going straight through a financial institution? I financed 4 vehicles with Pentagon FCU https://www.penfed.org/rates/index.asp with no problems whatsoever. Get the "go" from the financial institution prior to going to the dealership and it save alot of hassle and time. 3.9% right now at PFCU!!!

Yea, I did something very similar. I joined the Associated Credit Union for that reason. Credit Unions are great. No hassles. You just take a check for the balance to the dealer along with your $3K down and everyone is happy.

Don't give up man. It is obvious that you really want the 8. It is a great car. Definitely try a different aproach and possibly even a different dealership. I hope that you will be able to get one and begin to enjoy it soon.

don't give up! surely there are ways around this. different dealership, finance ahead of time, buy used... these were all mentioned. please reconsider. paintballa is right, the 8 is awesome and you seem cool--you fit in with the rest of us. don't give up just yet. take a breather, sleep on it, and try again tomorrow.

Hey wannahave, you and I have spoken about this issue on a personal level, and I hate to see you give up your dream now. Its a new year coming, try the credit union thing, try anything, something is going to work out, you'll see. Sounds to me like you would love your 8 more then some of us do, and its apparent we all love ours. You wouldnt give up on your one true love, and you shouldnt give up on the 8. Give it one more try. If not for us, for yourself. If not for yourself, then for the 8, because who knows what kind of person will end up buying "YOUR" 8 if you don't. Maybe a street racer? Keep up your hard work, it will pay off.......................

What again is the price and options you are looking for? Give me the exact rundown and I have someone I can check with.

although i dont like leasing.........it will give u a chance to own.........an 8. or u can save more money..........until u have enough to finance what u can afford..........if i were u.....i would find a used one.........for 22-24........put down 5k.....and that would get u 2........350 on 72 with a interest rate in the 5's.............if the car has under 20k miles............that being said i dont agree with finance any longer than 48 mths, but it will allow u to be happy.............so get to looking for a used one..........in that price range and mileage and u should be ok.........if u have credit scores above 650

Let me explain what happend yesterday...

I found 9+ used RX8's in my state. In South FL I found (5) of them but I called one from a dealership that was black, stick, black-red leather, NAV, etc etc (not that I needed all that stuff) but I called them to check on the price.

The ad said "Call for price", so I did, when I get a salesman on the phone he tells me he can't give me the price over the phone. (a lie, I know and that should have been warning sign number one) but I pressed him and told him I was in Orlando and I wanted them to tell me with my down, my trade in, could I get to $350@72.

He said he talked to his boss, probably more lies, and he said they could make that deal happen. I knew the car was worth $30K but thought they might be selling it for $26K and I could fight to lower the price. I never did get the price of the car....STUPID TRUSTING & NAIVE ME!!!!

I knew what these guys are about, I know their tricks and constant LIES, yet since I thought I explained fully (WHICH I DID) to the salesman...I said...

"Look, I said 350@72 not because I wanted a negotiateing point but because that is the MAXIMUM I'll pay for the car. Don't make me drive down there if you can not make the deal happen, I"m in Orlando and I don't want to waste my TIME, MONEY, and MILES on my car if the deal can't happen"

He said:

"No, I spoke to my boss and he said that I could get that payment, the deal was reasonable"

I spoke to him a few more times during the week. He called me a few times to confirm I was comming, they sent me an email to confirm and I confirmed.

250 Miles later...

I get to the dealership and no one knows who the guy I spoke to is. I give them another guy who called me...no one knows who that is either. Keep in mind that before I was there 3 min's some dummy salesman starts barking in my ear "So, what other cars do you like...what other car would you like to buy" even before they confirm who these two guys are, or are not...or if the car is there.

I brush off that foolish (IF I was not CHRISTIAN I would not be speaking so nice trust me people...I'm as angry as I have ever been, but I have a responsiblity to act CHRIST-like so that is why you are not hearing me say MUCH WORSE) guy and they direct me to the "New car department". The person that sent me there was the internet/used car manager.

Do you see what is going on here...I smelled it as soon as I got in, they are messing with me.

I talk to these two salesman and they don't know who the heck I'm talking about. I go to the receiptionist desk and she does not know. Some guy comes "white shirt, tie, and gold up the wazzo...which is the cheap car salesman dress code" and tells me he does not know who that is either. They mention they have another location and maybe that is the one he is at.

I calm a bit...then I tell him what car I was looking for and he said:

"Oh the black RX8, I just sold that last night"

#)&#%)#$&#_$()&#_%#)&$#$)&@(@^A(%&#_@)&@_#(*)A@^A_ *()#

Before he told me that I call the other guy who called me that morning as I was driving down I95...let's call him Mr. X.

"Can I speak to Mr. X, **on hold**, this is Mr. X...hello this is blah from Orlando comming for the RX8. Who, THIS IS BLAH...I spoke to you today, you called me earlier...I came for the RX8. ***a puse, no communication for like 5 sec***, then CLICK!"

%&#)$#($&%^)*(#&$@#()*$&@#%_*()#&%@*()%&@_%*()@&$@ *&$

At this point I confirm what these PEOPLE were doing. My dad was with me and he is let's say, rough around the edges, and he wanted to beat the heck out of the guy we were talking to.

I slam the door while opening it..."I hear in the background, "settle down", my dad later told me he fliped the bird to them.

read on...

...so that was experiance #1.

Do you think Mr. X called me back, wondering were I was? (this is if I had the wrong location)

Do you think that Mr. C, the original guy I spoke to on the phone that said I could get my 350@72 call me to see where I was?

Do you think the so called manager rememberd I called?

I did prepare for their possible stupidity and was planing on going to other dealerships....but this story has just begun, it repeats itself again...

I blame myself some, I know, I should have known better...how could I think that someone could TELL ME THE TRUTH at a dealership. I just thought...these guys can't lie about this..."I mean, GOD...I'm comming from ORLANDO"

I'll write more later....there is more to tell...

Why on earth do you rely on dealing with car dealers on the phone or in person? This is the 21st century. You're obviously skilled enough at the use of the internet to carry on negotiations via the net and email.

A quick check of AutoTrader.com yielded 105 new and used 2004-5 RX-8's within 300 miles of your zip code, with an average asking price of about $26,000. Figure that asking prices are about 10% over selling price and there are a number in your price range. Each listing carries an email address. Send them your parameters and get email responses IN WRITING with offers.

Print the results of your search and go to the dealer at a specified appointment time. Make the deal and take your car.

I think you'll find that this approach is considerably more satisfactory than the approach you've been taking.

be patient man, don't give up on it altogether just yet. try again in maybe another few months, time is on your side because eventually the used 8's prices are gonna drop and you'll be more than capable of owning one reasonably!

of course, during that time, you should be testing other brands of cars as well, maybe during all this testing you may just find another car that will catch your attention and that you can afford to own.

relax man, it's just a car, it's not worth the stress

No, they were major car dealerships...but their used car department.

Why on earth do you rely on dealing with car dealers on the phone or in person? This is the 21st century. You're obviously skilled enough at the use of the internet to carry on negotiations via the net and email.

I did the email thing before, I know...they always reply on my phone number...or almost always. Remember also, that I know how stupid I was...this is one of my ANGER points. I know better yet I trusted a "car salesman" to be at least HALF honest not to have me drive down 250 miles. Know I know, that there is no holding back their lies...there is no lie big enough for these people.

I will now, what ever car I get, DEMAND the deal in writing before I come in. I will DEMAND the car's price...PERIOD. I will not mention my down payment at all. I will be smarter....

Again, what gets me the most upset is the HUGE LIE these people told me and that I was proven 500MILES with of my stupidity and naiveNESS. At least I learned a little more...

I knew the tricks, I knew the plan...but I trusted like a fool...any remaining trust or respect I had for "car salesman" JUST BLEW OUT OF THE WATER.

be patient man, don't give up on it altogether just yet. try again in maybe another few months, time is on your side because eventually the used 8's prices are gonna drop and you'll be more than capable of owning one reasonably!

I know, I just don't always apply what I know. I always reflect on what I say and how I act, and this is just a new lesson for me. I'll be OK later today...I'm just tired and a little sad about all of this. I'll look at other cars and keep the 8 in my dreams...and maybe something will happen...we will see.

As always, thanks all of you for shareing with me here. Thanks for the encouragement! It's just a car...I know that. I actually came to the conclusion the other day that, because of what JESUS CHRIST has done for me and provides me...

I AM CONTENT, at 27...I AM CONTENT! I still have "wants" and while I might be disapointed when I don't get them, the fact remains that after a few hours...I"ll be the same HAPPY EASY GOING CONTENT GUY I normally am. It's just a matter of time...

A new lesson learned...GROWING is what it is all about...

Actually, THANKS AGAIN everyone...I wont go into the rest of the story.

THIS ISSUE IS DEAD, now...I'm going to tell everyone who will listen about what that dealership did to me (BBB, Media...etc) so it does not happen to someone else or so their LIES can be made public. Just so they know I did not go away without a fight...

I'll live...just maybe not in an 8...

Wannahave (Wannakickass), good luck man. It seems to me you have made your mind up. I'm sorry to here that.

A few notes for the future...
- Never get impatient
- Never get too close to one car at one dealership
- Never tell them how much you are willing to pay
- Never commit to how you will pay or say cash
- Always look for financing outside of the dealership
- Never get impatient
- Always offer less than you are willing to pay to get the price down, they will call you back
- Always be willing to loose the deal to get a better price. You will eventually snag a deal.
- Never deal in person, use the Internet and phone.
- Always purchase at the end of the month
- Always check AutoTrader
- Never get impatient

You probably know all this but I just thought that maybe something in there that may help you in your quest.

Don't let them do that. When you request a quote, indicate in your comments that you do NOT wish to be contacted by phone. If you're contacted by phone, inform the caller that you do not wish to discuss the matter until you contact them.

Works like a charm.

Very good points.

Especially never Never NEVER, tell them how much you are willing to pay monthly as they will always come up with that number and it is almost always working against you. Definately get outside finance as you take this totally out of the equation at the dealership and only have to worry about price.
Good luck! Keep the dream alive!!
