I FINALLY got my VIN#...what next?
I FINALLY got my VIN # Saturday. Can someone please tell me what's next? I've emailed Mazda USA and requested info from them and am still waiting to hear back.
When should I expect to get an ETA date?
Thanks!

Well.......
You probably have to wait 6-8 weeks from that point. It seems most of the times are 8 weeks from build date. Ask them for your build date and they will give an ETA. Mine is 4th week of October...build date Sept. 1, left Japan Sep. 8. I just recently emailed them and have not heard back.....wondering if it's at port yet. Good luck and happy waiting!

When was your build date? Mine was the week of Oct 1, and my sales manager said I should get the VIN# very soon. He checked today, but it wasn't available yet. They seem to think it will be here in mid-November. When do they estimate your delivery date?

Thanks for the replies RX22 and Cruzdreamer.
I heard from Mazda and my car was produced on October 3, but no ETA time has been set. I was originally told it would probably be sometime around the 2nd or 3rd week in November. I'm hoping that's still right.
Does anyone know how long it takes for cars to ship from Japan?
Cruzdreamer, I read on another thread where your car is in port already.... CONGRATULATIONS!!! I know you can't wait. :D Don't forget to post pics!!

Hey Alwazl8
Thanks.....yea it's in port. Get this Mazda and my dealer has conflicting info. Mazda said it was in port Sept.22 and my dealer's contact said it had not gotten there but was due there on the 8th of October. So....who is right? I wrote Mazda back about the confusion and she said that is what she has in her Mazda computer......so.........who knows. Both say week of Oct. 3rd so i am hoping next week sometime. It's aggravating but I figure more time to sell my car. Really disappointed...3 leads on the internet....zero on my regular ads in the magazine. Too many good New car deals out there and time of year I suppose. Can't afford to lose too much otherwise hubby will say no to the RX8 for now. And that would stink....depressing if I have to wait till I sell mine!

Thanks Mikeb.... I most definitely will! :D
I wish you luck in selling your current car, Cruzdreamer. I had a Honda Del Sol that I sold in July so I could save more money for when my 8 gets here. I had it posted on the net and ran an add in the paper, but got no interest. However, I work with a woman who's youngest daughter was gettting her license in August and she knew my car was for sale. She thought it would be the perfect car for her so she bought it. A week later it was totaled! A little upsetting for me because I never had anything major happen to me in it the whole time I had it, but oh well.... Hopefully, it'll work out for ya so that you don't have to give up your 8 when it gets here. That would suck!
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Dealers have this nasty habit of taking the vehicle that was ordered for you and for which you have put down a deposit and selling it to some sucker who walks up tothe dealership and is stupid enough to pay $5000 over MSRP. Then they tell you that your car was delayed, or that it fell off the truck while they were unloading it and was declared a total loss. They figure you're a chump and will never know what really happened.
Just the other day my co-worker was telling me how a Honda dealer had offered to sell him an Odyssey that was supposed to go to a customer who had paid a deposit and had been on a waiting list for weeks. My co-worker refused, but I'm sure there are plenty of people who would take a salesman up on such an offer.
But I'm not cynical or anything...

I got my car (on 9/27) in just under 7 weeks. Here are the times:
order placement to build: 2.5 weeks
build to delivery: 4 weeks
I'm located in Seattle, WA which is a major port. Your location in the U.S. will impact the build to delivery time I'd imagine.
My dealer estimated 10 weeks. The good people at rx8orders@mazdausa.com were very helpful in tracking my order. You'll need a VIN to get status.
Waiting is hell. Ask my dealer ;-)

More like build to delivery......6-8 weeks. Argh, the waiting!! Next week for me I am hoping....did I say that already? I just can't stand it anymore.....last time I will order a car.....tough for an impatient person. Not my best virtue. Silver and waiting!

Aaargh!!! My dealer said my car was built on 10/14 and is still at the factory, so my delivery date will probably be later than 11/15 which was the goal. This is killing me.
I have a great dealer though. The sales manager could tell I was disappointed by the news, so he gave me the keys to their RX8 demo and told me to be back in a couple of hours. What a blast that was!!! :D But honestly, I think it made the waiting worse. Man, I love that car!

Wow, that is cool....you got to drive it for two hours! Yea, that would make the wait tougher. I have only driven the car for about 10 minutes. Ok tomorrow is Monday....start of the 3rd week.......lots of lookers at my P5 but no buyers yet! That is some consolation to know the car is well worth it and I will appreciate it that much more I am sure! Thanks guys and hang tough RX22!

4th week?
I count it as the 3rd(since it's only gonna be the 20th day...........I know we had a few days in that 1st week. Do they consider that a full week then? If that is so then my car should definitely be here this week I'd think. So there can be 5 weeks in a month? Now I am really anxious! "Dude, where's my car?" That a movie title right? LOL

Hi Guys,
you are lucky! Here in the UK I ordered mine on the 4th October (before the official release in the UK) and was told I'd have a delivery sometime in the 1st quarter of next year! It seems demand is so high in the US they've cut the quota's for Europe. In the UK it's gone from 3000 in 2003 to 2000, and so everything's put back here until next year.
Got the hi-power in black with leather on order, and I can't wait to get rid of my aging unreliable Fiat Coupe. Lots of fun a couple of years ago, but with 90,000 miles on it, the turbos on it's way out, and things keep breaking on it!
