How much for a new 6 speed GT?
Guys, the best quote I got is about invoice - $1000 MAC rebate. I see all these unbelievable out-of-the-door numbers being posted here, like 27.5K, 28.5K...
Am I missing something here? I am in So Cal and there are 100s of RX-8s on the lots. So, it is not like there is a lot of demand...

For one, people will always attempt to one-up one another. So take the claims on prices with a grain of salt. People like to round down -- way down.
Also, taxes in certain areas are significantly lower than in others. So, while you might pay $2,000 in taxes, another guy might only pay $500 in taxes. Makes a huge difference when comparing Out-The-Door prices. Everyone wants to know what it really cost OTD but that's really not a fair comparison unless you live in the same area.
A GT goes for about $28,800 I believe. Take off $1000 MAC and you've got $27,800. From there it's not hard to see how people can get $28,500 OTD in some places.
But there are numerous other rebates out there that some people can take advantage of. Graduate ($500, fluctuates almost daily whether Mazda will accept it or not), Military ($500, again, always changes whether it will be accepted), Loyalty ($500+, changes constantly), Gerber/ACOG ($500, these were ads in magazines, coupons basically).
Add all them up, if you're lucky enough to qualify for them, and you can save quite a bit.
Figure that a shrewd negotiator can easily save another $500 below invoice, and there you go -- an easy $27,500 OTD if the cards are dealt right and the moon is aligned just so.
