How good is this deal?
I got quoted over the phone for 26,800 drive out on a 2004 black rx8 6-speed with touring package, appearance package, rotary accent package, and spoiler. seems like a damn good deal as it is, but do you guys think i could get them to go any lower?

Just as a matter of logic, if a dealer quoted you on that figure, then you for sure can go lower. Dealer's never going to give his rock-bottom cutoff, especially not during the first round of negotiation.

PPen: I'm not quite sure, as I purchased my 8 back in August and haven't been keeping up with the prices of 8's these days. I have heard from around here that '04s are going for as little as $5000 below invoice, so if you blue book the car with the options they offered you (http://www.kbb.com or .org, I think) and do the math, that should tell you how good or bad their offer is. Also, for some reason, location matters, as some parts of the US still sell RX-8's for pretty high while others are lower. I'm not sure where you are located, but take that factor into consideration.
What I would do is go to another Mazda dealership, look for the exact same car and say to the sales guy, "Man, you seem like a good dealership, and I want to do business with you, but XXX Mazda is offering me this exact same car for $26,8." Hundred bucks says he'll go lower. Then go back to the original dealer and do the same thing. They want your business, so you'll end up with a great price and probably some extra bonuses. It worked for me (I got a 100,000-mile powertrain warranty with mine and they threw in the spoiler as well)

I didn't go with the leather. It looks good, but hot in summer cold in winter. The cloth seats are very good ( although the first impression was they don't look it), and more comfortable, but it's one's preference...Now go get your 8.

My advice to you is to take the bull by the horns on this. You are gonna lose like $4-5k the moment you drive it off lot since it is an 04, so keep that in mind. These 04 models shouldn't even be left for sale, and since they are, you have the upper hand. You can make life easier by simply offering $1k below, that. If they say no, you walk, and it's likely they will negotiate from there if they refuse your offer. The key is to be able to name your price. Whoever plays hardball more, gets there price. If you can be disciplined, you can definitely save a grand. Good luck!!
