Hit and run Mz3 - Purchasing RX-8

Hey,

Bad news for the 3.. long story short, I got into a hit and run accident.. didn't call the cops (I don't know why), so.. I have to deal with my damages and insurance (possibly).

Good news, I'm probably trading in the 3 so I don't have to deal with the damage costs for a VR RX-8. I'm hoping for a 2006 because the dealerships are trying to get rid of them for the new year of 2007.

Any advice? Thanks in advanced! for the RX-8

Advice . . . . Next time . . .. call the cops. Your insurance company may ask for a police report.

Car buying advice. The 06 have already depreciated more than the rebates will give you back. However . . . the warranty is better on the 06 than the 07. It is up to you. But the best advice I can give somebody ( I am a dealership finance manager ) is ; get your own financing first. Then go looking at cars.

definitely get the 06 for the low low price and IMO much better warranty coverage.

Yeah, well.. thanks for the advice guys, but I don't think the rx8 is happening I don't think I can afford $600/month!! That's just for the car, imagine that PLUS insurance!!

New choices:
2006 Mazda3 (White) 5 spd, beige interior, sunroof, 16" wheels
2007 Mazda3 (Flat Bright Red) 5 spd, black interior, wing, 16" wheels, sunroof
2007 Mazda3 (Black) 5spd, base model, lip spoiler, hub caps

600 a month, are you kidding? I purchased mine for 22500 almost two years ago, with a 5k downpayment and the payments are 360 a month. I think you should look around a bit. Get a slighly used one maybe? Im sure you can find a better deal. You'll regret not getting the 8 lol. Anyways good luck to you.

That's a really big payment, and I thought mine was on the high side at $468.

I wouldn't mind a $360/month payment, nor a $468/month payment.. geez why does this have to be so difficult? I'm looking around and found this used rx8 with axis rims and an aftermarket wing, for $15800... 39k miles on it (still in warranty).. Anywho, being 18.. I really don't know what insurance has in the happy box for me.

At your age, I'd go with a used 8. You should be able to find a low mileage clean 8 for under $20k. Find an owner who has taken care of their car and has not heavily modified it. They should be able to show you every time the car has been taken in for service and any completed recall/TSB work.

I used to own an Audi A4 that was a hit and run magnet so I know how you feel. I would still call the police and file a report for your insurance company. They (insurance company) handle hit and run accidents differently so it is definitely in your best interest$$$.

Some counties will not file a hit and run report if there were no witnesses so if that happens you get the name of the person at the police station and have your insurance agent call them. That way you do not get screwed out of money.

$600/mo? Ouch! What kind of financing plan were you looking at? I only pay $322 a month at 4.75%...
