Help on Buying 04

Hey everyone, I am getting out of my slow, poor handling, Accord 03 Coupe and into a 8. I need help/advice on the 8's in DFW that I have found:

All are 6sp 04's:

1. Gray, GTP, new asking price $27200

2. Gray, TP, new, asking price $26,600

3. Black, GTP, Demo w/ 10K miles, $25,100

4. Silver, no options, new $24269

5. Blue, Carmax, Loaded, 9k miles, $26998

I need any advice I can get....also advice on the silver w/ no options, is it worth it?

Thanks!

I wouldn't touch a demo. It's been driven by lots of people who really don't know or care about a break-in period. It's likely been abused. I might consider used, but not for a price that's within $1000 of a new car. You have to decide if all the options warrant buying the used car. It looks like the prices you mention are just a few hundred over invoice and include the $1500 purchase incentive. Most dealers around here are selling at '04's invoice and then subtracting the $1500, resulting in prices $4500-5000 below MSRP.

well, the silver with no options costs 2331 less than the titanium with the touring package, and the touring package itself costs 2800, so it's a slightly better deal. I figure if you're buying a car like this, why not get the nicer options, I got the touring pkg because I don't like leather, but that's just me. They'd probably sell it to you for 25,500 or so

I live in Dallas and talked to three dealerships before I bought my RX-8. I ended up buying at Freeman in Irving because I made the mistake of falling in love with a car on the lot. Silly me. However, if you haven't, call Prestige Mazda on the south side of town. They still have a bunch of '04s in stock and the guy I talked to (I asked for the fleet manager) was the most willing to deal of any of them. Note that I said call him, don't go in. Tell him what you're looking at and that to get you down there they have to give you a great deal. That'll get you a good price.

I would pick this one:

2. Gray, TP, new, asking price $26,600

Now, FYI on used ones...they are going for ALOT cheaper than what you said Carmax listed them at. I've seen them from $24,000 to 20,000 so don't pay anything NEAR a new ones price.

I'm currently fighting on a deal on a red RX8 Sport package, spare tire, & CD changer at $25,000 flat...so don't hurry yourself to much and if you really want to save money off the bottom line, get a used one...BUT, you run the risk of a dumb person mistreating the car.

Good Luck! :D
