Hail damaged Winning Blue
I need some help folks ! Was planning on getting a RX-8 this fall , untill this week . We had a major storm last week , huge hail , softball down to golf size . A Winning Blue was in the middle of it . I went and looked at it today, of course it was raining and I was on my lunch break , so I didn't get out to look upclose . The front and rear window are destroyed , there is golf ball size hail damage on the left side , the hood and I'm sure the deck lip and roof had to get the damage also , the right side suffered no damage that I could see of . Looked like it was sitting at a angle when the storm hit . It MSRP's at $33,100 ,6 speed , GT package , apperance , c/f hood ,spoiler , spare ,sunroof , 6 cd changer .
My goal was to buy a base package so I could get a body kit, spolier , ect down the road after I bought it . I dont have to have all the stuff they loaded it up on it . I guess you could say it's not that important to me ...but if I can get this car at a great deal , cheaper then a base , then I might jump on it . I can do some of the body work and I do have a couple of friends that work in body shops that I'm sure would help me out and even paint it for me .
I guess my question is , what kind of price should I offer the dealership with? I called and breifly talked to a sales person , frist said they would prolly go in the low 20's for it . I personally think that is a little high myself . He wanted to start talking payments ect , so I ended the phone call . I have never had any expereince with hail damaged cars , and I might not be logically about it . I would love to hear some pro's advice about this , please help ! Thanks in advance , Bobby

The dealer should have insurance coverage to repair the car just like you would on your own. I'd not mess with the prospect of buying a damaged car. You may never be totally happy with the repairs.

DrRockin99... Where are you located? I didn't here of any major hail in the DFW area last week.
Ned M.... It's so common down here with hail storms, dealers don't mess around fixing their stuff usually. They sell it with the damage for low low prices normally. It's not un common to see sales on hail damage cars.
