Edmunds(and the dealer for that matter) claims the invoice at being about 30100 and MSRP of 32.8k. The true deal of the negotiations was the trade in. The price of the car was down to 27.5 but I was able to get them to raise the trade in value more than $1000 (over other offers and 2k over kbb) This was possible because the dealer is extremely large and could take a greater hit with trade ins. Overall, with the trade-in factored in, the car was bought for about 26-26.5k

$26.5k is about $3,600 below invoice and $6300 under MSRP (according the edmunds).

Best part was strolling into the dealership, negotiating in front of basically all of the other salesmen, and getting the car to this price, all from a 16 year old - maybe it caught em off guard

Oh and I am very excited to own such a fine piece of machinery

As far as purchase strategies there is one thing that needs be remembered = The salesman cannot sell the car without the buyer. This means the buyer is the one who controls the transaction giving the buyer more power (much more than people realize) Without you, the dealer won't make the sale therefore you have the power, the next step is using it correctly. If you study and go to dealerships with this mentality, you will find a deal.

Good deal. 3600 is 1500 dealer cash+1000 Mac+538 holdback = 3038 + 1000 = 4048

So the dealer made about $400+whatever profit he gets outta your old car. Nice deal. Hope they didnt hit you on the back end (which is where most dealers make their money)

Yeah, to be honest though, I can't see much profit from the trade in. Power seats didnt work, only door that worked was driver's and right rear passenger, brake shudder, none of which they really new about but I can't be sure. Ahh, just so happy to have the rx-8! well worth it

I am looking to spend 24,400-25,700 and I am trying to get the best car I can for that...I don't know exactly what I can expect for that price (out the door) + tax&tags.

I am kinda thinking

a 2005 New
With the Touring Package
Appearance Package
Wing spoiler
Leather Seats

I think thats right to expect Ideally I would like a 6 disc changer and/or nav with that but I doubt thats too feasible for that money.

I believe these were the same 4 '04 RX-8's that I was looking at last summer when I was shopping around. This is the S&S on Belair Rd in Perry Hall? They were offering the $4000 cash from Mazda, but that was it. I tried to haggle with them to lower the price -- after all the cars had around 80-200 miles on them from test driving and they were a year old at least. Also, this was at a time when other people here were getting '04 GTs for $26-28K (and even less if I remember correctly). S&S basically took the money from Mazda and didn't want to go any lower on the price. So the loaded '04 Silver 8 I was looking at would have cost me over $31K. It's no wonder they had those cars on the lot for such a long time.

I ended up finding a a good deal on an '05 at Darcars in the color I really wanted. Cool-Blue-Dad, I'm glad S&S gave you a better deal on your WB 8. I think that's the only one I didn't drive when I was there, but that's the exact configuration of options that I ended up with in my Titanium 8.

Lets see, I bought my car in late June I think, so it was definitely as late as mid-June that I was looking at Perry Hall. It must be that in the two months or so after I was there, they were indeed offering some better incentives.

I never heard what came of the other '04's on the lot. The black one was pretty sweet - it was fully-loaded with red/black interior - but had the most miles on it. I think the red one was the cheapest out of all of them, but still had NAV I think. Wasn't the green one the most expensive of the lot? That thing probably has 500 miles on it by now!

Anyway, I'm happy with my purchase, even if I did have to drive an hour to get it. I saved so much money there, that I was able to buy the appearance package afterwards, as well as strakes and rotary accents (got the SS strakes but OEM accents). Now I want the MS sideskirts, but I'm having a hard time convincing myself to pay $700 for them.

I would have driven that far if necessary, but honestly I couldn't find any TG 8s in the tri-state area with the equipment I wanted, other than at the dealership in Silver Spring. That color was very hard to come by last summer around here...

FYI: I just found this site a few weeks ago and saw the post re: the "new" 04's. Checked out the S & S web site and they still had one listed at $31,000! Gone this last weekend though.

Yeah, but I figured that the thread was still alive so why not post. Besides I have to consider an AT. Have kids, wife - need AT. Lose of HP doesn't bother me, can still pretend by using the auto-shift.
