Got my new '05 RX-8 this weekend!

On Friday I picked up my GT package, appearance package, spoiler, Nordic Green w/ Black/Chaparrel interior RX-8. I got it for $500 below invoice and a $245 doc fee and that's it.

I absolutely love this car. It had only 5 miles on it and it sat in the nice comfy showroom, out of the weather for 5 months. Not a scratch or mark on her inside or out.

This week I will be having the RacingBeat exhaust and REVi intake installed. I'll also be doing little mods like the clear markers and AC/oil screens.

I think I will also be getting 3M paint protective film installed on the entire front. I hate rocks and paint chips all over the front. Estimate is around $800.

Today I put a nice wax on her. I used the RV favorite called ProtectAll, truelly amazing stuff. RV people know there stuff when it comes to cleaning and protecting very expensive vehicles.

Also, this is my first rotary and I'm very excited about it in all aspects.

So far I have twice filled up gas when it was half full. On first half tank I got 24 miles to the gallon, I babied it. On the second half tank I got 20 miles to the gallon.

I'm still in the break-in period, of course. I have not exceeded 4000 RPM and will not until 600 miles. I'll then slowly work the RPMs upward until I get to 2000 miles, per Racing Beats recommendation.

Glad to be here!

Let me be the first to welcome you to the forum. Seems like everything is going well with your car so far. You must have been on the forum for a while as well being already on board with all the Racing Beat stuff.

Nice gas mileage numbers too...

Thanks! And true.. I've been reading the forum for about a week. I'm glad I did as I want to get the AC/oil screens installed ASAP. Huge oversight by Mazda, but forgivable. :D

Congrats on the new ride and good price!

Take some pix of the interior and post them when you get a chance. I have not seen the black/brown interior in person - and the pix on Mazda web page and literature are really small. It looks like it could be a nice combo.

Ditto on the pics. My ultimate 8 I thought would have been a black with black/ chapparel interior - though I never have seen one in person. ( I wound up with a Velocity Red with black/red interior and I am thrilled with it!) I remember way back when.......I saw a '73 Corvette, green with a tan interior that I thought was the best combination I had ever seen! I still think that is a GREAT combination.
