Is this a good price for an RX8 GT?

2005 Whitewater Pearl RX8 6Speed w/ Black/Red Interior
- Grand Touring Package M/T
- Navigation System
- Lojack Alarm System
- Wheel Locks
- 18 Chrome Wheels

my friend was dealing with one of the dealers and he said he can get it for $30,000. The dealer quoted $31,671.
(Both Prices Include Tax/Fee/Etc.)
Any suggestions? Thanks.

I think most 05s are getting $6-8K off MSRP. $30K OTD seems a little high. I'd say $27K would be a better price.

You should be able to get a lil less. Not seeing it go to 27k though because you got some expensive additions (navi + lojack + chroming).

Ah, thanks a lot for the response.
I'm new to the forum and I'm trying to get myself an RX-8, but not sure what's a good price for the 2005. I read around, but everyone of them seems to differ. I'll be on a lookout for a lower price. thanks.

One of the dealers in my area is/was selling one with the same equipment for $28K. I saw that advertised about two weeks ago. I'm not sure if it was silver or white, though. There are eight 05s left in a 50 mile radius or so to me and nearly all are white.

Lojack is a joke. It only has benefit IF the police feel like doing anything about it. Sure it may be able to find where your car is but that doesn't mean you will ever know it or that the police will actually bother to track it down or recover it for you. Besides, the "hidden" sensors are extremely easy to track and find in the car (look under the floor mats/seat) so that they can be removed by the thieves or disabled. Plus, you have to pay a sevice fee for the "privilege" of this "wonderful" service they provide. It's not worth it.

Go do Mazda's website and do "Search Inventory" and you can see what is available, I think, up to 150 miles away from your zip code. It will show what is available and you can narrow it down to white and if you want auto or stick. It will then show you what matches your selection. Then click on the individual VINs for each vehicle and it will tell you exactly what was in it from the factory. It will give you MSRP. It is then up to you to find out what they will sell it for. That should make it easier for you.

I got a 2005 GT with the AT for 24200 a couple weeks ago. That was with all the mazda and autoshow rebates. Perhaps since it is an AT it was in less demand?

On the same thread, I looked at an 05 GT MT last night at the dealership as I am looking for an 8 for my wife. The MSRP is $31,900 with an invoice (from cars.com) of $28,800. I told the salesman I would take it off of his hands if I could get it between $27,000 and $28,000. The car has been on the lot for several months and when I test drove it yesterday it had 900 miles on it. I know they want to sell it badly, so should I hold out and try to get a lower price or go with my origional intentions? Any feedback would be appreciated.

900 miles? I wouldn't consider that new anymore. Plus at 900 miles it was either a loaner or the dealer test drive machine so it probably wasn't treated with too much respect.

Invoice on the 05 RX8 GT is 29380 (MSRP 32080). With the 1500 rebate plus the 1000 for MAC financing, plus another 1000 or so discount, you should be able to get this down in the 25-26 range plus TT&L (i.e. about 28k clean out the door).

I was offered MSRP minus 4k, then minus 2500 rebates, in upstate NY about 2 weeks ago (i.e. under 28 out the door) but spent too long deciding (negotiating with significant other ) and it got sold from underneath me.

The MSRP listed above is for most of the GTs out there, which have the spare tire kit bundled in. Nav and appearance packages etc. add quite a bit onto this.

They usually add the tax on the total price before the rebates.

You might also wanna check Mazda's inventory in a llarger radius. Search close by (within 150 mi), and then use the search results to get the zip-codes for close-by cities, and use those as the starting points for a wider search. It takes a while but gets you access to a wider radius search.

I have looked for rebates and incentives on mazdausa.com and the local dealers and I can not find any. Are they still available?

I believe all the rebates they've got now is 2500 cash. So invoice minus that and you're right around the ballpark. Most dealers will also throw in their holdback money (either 2 or 3% of invoice or sticker, not sure which). Remember though, and use the phrase to your advantage when negotiating, the '05s will be 2 years old in roughly six months time.

I called Mazda NA and they told me that on the 05 RX-8 that they had $1000 rebate plus 0% for three years, .9% for 4 years, or 1.9% for five. I read on this forum( but I can't find it now) that you could get $2500 cash in lieu of the financing. I am thinking about waiting since it appears that there may be some 06's here by the end of the month and rebates might go up when they have them on the lot together.

We have a new member of the family. An 05 GT MT Vilocity red RX8, red black leather interior with everything but Nav and apperance pkg. Sticker price $32,600, purchase price $26,700. There were 3 rebates available: $1000 Mazda rebate, $1000 MAC rebate (we did not get because we financed through our bank), and a $500 Coupon rebate (which we did not get, never heard of it). Although we did not "officially" get the rebates, I negotiated them to discount that much anyway. My wife loves the car.
