is this a good price?

the dealership has a 06 VR 6 speed GT for 24,000 + T & T. it has 8000 miles on it, key less entry, as well as it is a certifided used car, giving me a 100,000 limited warranty. should i jump on this or hold out for $22,000?

Thanks alot

Well, today I got my 06 6 speed GT for 23,505 w/ 0 miles on it...It actually seems pretty good though. I don't know. Others will jump in and let ya know.

My $.02

Thanks for the quick reply.
I've been lurking on this site and drooling over this car since it came out in 2003/4. The dealer has only gone down $120 from the asking price and I feel that he has to give a bit more...but then i may have to face the fact I may loose the car that I have been lusting over!

How much are you paying for the warranty? The car has a 5yr. 60,000 mile warranty from Mazda. Are you planning on having the car for a long time? If you don't need the extra warr. then they should take some money off. Have you checked the Internet for some comparison pricing?
Here are some perks from Mazda ,but they expired today,,Darn!
Check this LINK

Customer Incentive, Cash
(Expires 1-2-07) -2,000.00

--- Supplemental Customer Incentive, Bonus Cash
(Expires 1-2-07) -1,000.00
(Req's Financing Through Mazda American Credit) (Incentive Combinations & Availability May Be Restricted by Regional or Fleet Rules & Other Factors -- See Dealer for Details)

warranty is 4yrs/50k miles plus an extra year and 10K miles on the powertrain. that being said, i agree with Easy in saying you should find out about how much they're charging for the extra warranty. that's where the stealerships make their commission so they like tacking it on whether you want it or not. hold out as there are plenty of others out there and this is definitely on the high side.

that is the price with the extended warranty. i think that since it is a certified pre owned car, i get an additional 12 month factory warranty. they are not willing to remove the warranty. honestly, this is a car that i would like to hold on to for along time, but then i say that with out having owned the 8 yet. I've checked the kelly blue book as well as a few web site, and they are more around $23,000, BUT they are not certfied pre owned nor with an extended warranty. I like the idea of keyless entry and the only modification i noticed on the car was a greedy short shifter.

i hate to say it but if they don't want to take the warranty off and they've only come down $120 i would say walk. they sound like carmax who just love to rip people off (my opinion). where are you located?

They won't remove the extended warranty?
If a dealer told me that I would leave.

I'm in Alabama. It is from a Mazda Dealership. The sales man has been giving me the talk about how he as given me a fair price etc... I was leaning towars this or trying to find a new '06 in Atlanta where there is more competition. I thought i should go for an '06 due to the longer warranty as compared to the '07.

you should be able to get lower than that for an '06 with no miles. used should definitely knock down the price a few more thousand even with the warranty they won't take off. let them know you're walking and you can certainly find a good deal somewhere else. you have the upper hand with '06 priced to move off the lot and it's winter (although you wouldn't know it by the weather).

Check dealer web sites in ATL.? See whats out there and compare. Don't buy a car because it's the only one available in a close proximity. If the list is 23,000 and Mazda will give incentives seems to me you could get it for less than what they are asking.
Has the dealer mentioned Mazda incentives to you? If not, ASK.

Customer Incentive, Cash
(Expires 1-2-07) -2,000.00
(Incentive Combinations & Availability May Be Restricted by Regional or Fleet Rules & Other Factors -- See Dealer for Details)

No I don't think so. So buy a NEW 2006. For the price of USED one. I think you will be paying the same as they are asking for a new one in ATL. I would keep looking if I were you. There is plenty of them out there.

i guess i'll be calling the dealer in Atlanta tomorrow. they have a new 06 Shinka for around 26,000 but lets see how low he will go.
do you think if i can get the 06 as described above for 23,500 out the door, which would be around 22,000 before TTT it would be worth it? I guess the biggest incentive is the 100,000 mile warranty.

That warranrty is not an "Incentive" in my book. Read the fine print of the Warranty and see exactly what it covers. You will more than likely see it covers nothing that will break. Or normally wear out in regular use.

I just got off the phone with the guys in Atlanta, this is what they are offering:
" 2006 Mazda RX-8 Shinka version, manual transmission, rear wing spoiler, copper red with alcantra seating- MSRP $33,520. Your Price through this Saturday is $25,000+++.

b.) 2006 Mazda RX-8 Grand Touring, manual transmission, rear wing spoiler, rotary accant package, velocity red with black and red leather interior- MSRP $32,024. Your price through Saturday is $24,300+++.

The 2006 Madza RX-8 comes with a 4yr/50,000 mile warranty. This includes roadside assistance and Mazda's transportation solution. These deals do require Mazda American Credit financing for full discount. There is also a 399.99 dealer service charge as part of the +++. Typically, out of state buyers will pay their own county/state taxes. You may want to check with your tax commisioner to figure out your taxes. Please let me know which you would prefer and we can wrap this up this weekend. "

i would think that the 06 would be cheaper!
