good with insurance stuff? help me out?!?!

Some of you may have seen that I bought another 8 today. Anyways when I go to get insurance for it I'm asked if its for the one I sold months ago.

Confused I explain that it was sold months ago and it is or another one. My insurance company was pretty confused as well. Anyways I go ahead and purchase insurance for the BB.

After a few phone calls I find out the person never registered the 8 (at least four months went by). After a few more phone calls I find out the title to the car is no where to be found, but that got resolved.

One phone call later I learn this person wrecked my beloved Melrose, has already received a check from insurance and the car is on the way to the scrap yard.

Also, the title is still to my name.

Now my question is:
would it be a waste of time trying to see if the insurance company will settle with me for that car, although this person already received their insurance check?

I have no idea how any of this works but if anyone knows anything I would really appreciate some advice.

Sorry for the long read, haha.

No. Not at all.
I'm curious if the idea of picking up the wrecked car from them for cheap $$ or whatever is even plausible.

Even though it's wrecked I'd give it way better use than a scrap yard, hence why I am wondering.

Plus there are a few things on it I sold with it that I wouldn't mind getting back lol.

I'm sure the insurance company will sell the car to you, just ask.

OK so that car is not yours anymore correct?

u can purchase a totaled vehicle from the insurance company, but u have to pay the salvage value for it.

now it gets tricky cause it is technically not yours and yours. but whomever the new owner is would need to give you permission to buy it, also they may actually have to purchase it for you, since it is not your vehicle anymore,

they cannot just sell it to you.

im an insurance auto appraiser i work in a body shop and write estimates and deal with insurance everyday, so if u have any questions ask

Okay. I have to go play army in the woods for a few days. When I get back I have to call them and I'll probably PM you because that slightly confused me.

Thanks!
