Definitely. I got mine for $23,499 (+TT&L) with the GT package, 6-disc CD changer, and spoiler. It was a new 2005 model.

So, with these REALLY low prices I've got to ask. Are there REALLY good incentives to the dealers allowing them to still make <some> money selling the cars this low, or, are they loosing money just to clear inventory?? These prices appear to be $4k to $5k below invoice. I've never heard of factory hold backs being this high??

Thanks for your thoughts cool-blue:

1) Thanks for the welcome.
2) Its new.
3) No options qouted other than the sport package.
4) The market is Austin, Texas
5) Edmunds MSRP $28735 Invoice $26,522 TMV $26,581 so $2,700 below invoice.
6) I've read probably all of them (been at it for a week now) but still wanted some different eyes on this particular offer.
7) I completely agree.

Interestingly enough Carmax is offering an '05 w/sport package and 7k miles for $23,600 and they think its a very good price. Go figure.

I too have been trying to become an RX8 owner (Base). My quest for a 2005 is being frustrated by non-responsive internet sales departments and/or lack of AT4 stock (N. Calif).

Here's the one reply I have been able to get

"THANK YOU FOR YOUR RECENT INQUIRY
MSRP $27935.00
DISCOUNT $3936.00
SALE PRICE $23999.00 PLUS FEES.
THERE IS ALSO A $1000.00 CUSTOMER REBATE THAT IS AVAILABLE TO CUSTOMER
THAT FINANCE THROUGH MAZDA AMERICAN CREDIT AND THAT YOU CAN USE AS YOUR
DOWN PAYMENT OR AS PART OF YOUR DOWN PAYMENT.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED ADDITIONAL INFO. OR IF YOU WANT TO SET
UP AN APPOINTMENT TO TEST DRIVE THE RX-8

I emailed them back asking for more prticulars (equipment, add-ons, mileage, etc. with no reply. I caled Mazda USA an dgotthe build date (May 05) and figure it has been sitting at the dealers a while (rural area).

I was hoping to get someting firmed up by this weekend to take advantage of the factry incentives by 1/31.

Anyone waiting until March or April for an 05 will have slim pickings (at least in California).

Thoughts?

It seems to me there was another $1500 hold back. don't know if it's still available. Buying a car from a dealer is a painful frustrating hassel. Once you find a deal that you can live with and commit to, STOP! shopping or will you drive yourself nuts. There will always be a better price. Get the best deal you can at the time and start loving the car and enjoying it. At least you are in Texas and shouldn't have to buy winter tires for it.

Cool-Blue-Dad,

Thanks, and let me apoligize for my typing skills and not running spellcheck before hitting the send button.

The ALL CAPS didn't put me off, just the lack of follow-up after I asked what the specific options/features of the vehicle were, what the mileage is (granted it's new but if, as I suspect, it has been on the lot since June or July it may have a few), and asked about the $1,500 Factory incentive.

Nothing and it's been two full working days. Reading all the thread posts on pricing sure is providing me with great info. I was looking to get a used 04 but now I have hope to getting an 05. I have also found the 04's to be over priced.

Jim

Yea, that's what I want to think. The Internet Sales Manager at another dealer that I test drove a used 04 at only works Thursday through Sunday. The All Caps Simmian, per the email address, isn't the that dealer's Internet Sales Manager.

BTW any idea what the Mazda Finance rates are for "excellant" to get the additional $1,000? For the last car purchased 2-years ago I was pre-qual'd by my credit union, so I told the finance guys that I didn't need their financing unless they could beat 3.95% (going used car rate at the time). They came back with Chrysler Financial at 2.99%. Oh to have those rates bacK{:o(

8%. But, check with your credit union and see if you can refinance with them as soon as you buy the car. Even though I was paying cash for the car, I got a loan just to get the extra $1000, and then paid off the loan as soon as I was able to find out what the payoff balance was. It took about 28 days to get this info which cost me about $100 in interest. Well worth it for $1000 cash!! The car is now all mine!!
