First Post....Very Noobie Question

Hello all.....

I've got an 03 RSX Type S and am awful tempted to trade it in for an RX8. I've seen a few at dealers selling for very reasonable prices and its hard to ignore. I'm dying to get into a somewhat practial RWD sports car.

This may sound outrageous, but a few dealers around me are advertising 04 RX 8s new for under $24,000.

Should I expect to get a 6 spd RX 8 at this price with the touring package????

P.S. - too many people on ClubRSX.com say the RX 8 is garbage...but for whatever reason, that makes me want one more :D

Of course there going too, There Haters!

On a lighter note, I don't know the answer to your question but I'm sure one of then other members might be able to shed some light on it but if I had to take a stab at it I would say the Rx-8 going for 24k are the base models.

Welcome to the club!! You'll be addicted before too long. As far as the price, I guess anything is possible... But, more than likely you'll probably be looking @ closer to 28-30k depending on your dickering skills. Just out of sheer morbid curiosity, what are the rsx'rs saying about our "garbage" ride??? Once again, welcome!!

well out of "morbid curiousity" most say its garbage bc its "slow." I love my RSX, but know its limits...and I know the RX 8 is a better all around performer for obvious reasons. Thats why I want one.

Slower? A younger guy at work almost cried when he found out I got the rx-8 for almost the same price as his rsx-s. Yea he is trying to mod it to make it as fast but still won't have the overall package. I'm sure he is still crying every day. I have to admit his rsx-s is pretty crappy looking too just my opinion though

Slow compared to some cars, fast compared to others... A good car is more than just flat-out speed. I don't mind if it takes a little while longer to get there, it just means I'm in the driver's seat that much longer

Talking

What's up?
I just purchased my 04 RX-8 in December of 04'. I payed with 26K (after the Mazda rebates) for a brand new 04 RX-8 6 speed with the grand touring package, nav., spoiler and the spare tire. I think I did pretty good on the price.? Well Im just saying an RX-8 is a hell of a better car then the RSX even without all the extras. But then again its all a persons preferance. Well anyway good luck with striking a deal.

So what are Mazda's current rebates like? If i could get an RX 8 6 spd with touring package for around $25-26k I would be very happy.

Exactly right man! u don't only pay for the speed, but also comfortability, overall performance, safety features and status. I am from Sydney and a RX8(top model) here is selling for about AUD$67000. for this amount of money, I can get a WRX STi or a Mit. Evo. I still bought my RX8 becuse I didn't just look for speed and I love my 8!

Umm as far as I know for an left-over 04 i think Mazda gives back $3500.00. For an 05 i think nothing to maybe $1500.00? I hope this helps

I test drove the *05* RSX Type-S before I got my 8 and I thought THAT was bad, and it's suppoed to be WAY more improved over the previous models, so I can't imagine how bad the 03 is compared to the 8. Get the 8..

Yeah, that sounds like a more reasonable price range than the $28-30k that was mentioned. $30k for an '04?? That's how much the '04s cost when they first came out. I doubt they would be anywhere close to that now, especially with the '05s out. Of course, not sure how the factory fire has affected cost due to more limited availability.

Haven't you had your car since before the 05 type s comes out? I dunno...everytime you post it seems like you're full of it.

Besides the FWD the RSX-S is an OUTSTANDING car. Just not as great as an 8. BTW I had a Mazdaspeed Protege before my 8. Fairly similar to the RSX-S.

Thumbs up

Matt that sounds about right for a 04. I bought an 04 black 6 speed a few months ago, with the appearance package, spoiler, and touring package ( the only diff from grand touring is mostly the leather seats), for 24k. If anything the 04's prices should have come down a little since then, so I think you should be about right in the ball park on an 04. Add 2k if you take the nav.

Right, most likely base-model Automatics. The 6-Speed cars are about 2k more.
