Quick Questions Before Order
Hey everyone,
Well I'm still several months away from getting my 8, but I do have a few questions. I originally planned on buying the car in mid-April, expecting it to arrive sometime in May, early June. After the plant fire I decided to contact Mazda about ordering and they suggested I order it now since they won't be able to start it until at least March, and with the current backlog they have, the longer I wait to order the longer I'll have to wait to get it. They said that if I order now I will probably get it late May. No problem.
Now, I am sort of on a limited budget for the time being (bad idea with this car), so I was looking for some feedback from other users. I searched around the forums since some of this has been answered in other threads, but I couldn't find the answers to some of these questions.
I plan on purchasing a 2005 Velocity Red MT, GT package and MazdaSpeed body kit, DVD Navigation and MP3 player. My friend has relatives that work at Mazda and was talking to me about how some of the addons such as the mp3 player are added right off the ship, but he wasn't sure on some things.
1) If you had to order the car, what fees are involved?
2) Can you order the car with the MazdaSpeed kit already installed when it arrives at the dealer (Yes, I'm probably going with this MS Dealer near me)? If so, did you save any money since the stock bumpers were not included at build?
3) If no to the above, did you save any money if (with the bumpers in particular) the dealer installed it for you before you even saw the car?
4) How much did you put down? How much did you pay w/o financing included? MSRP for my car is around $38000.
5) I believe I am going to have to have the car ordered, but if I could save money just having the dealership install the MS Kit off of a stock vehicle, I would go with that. Could someone explain the reasoning for ordering, what that involves, pros/cons, etc?
I'm going to go to the dealership next week to speak with them directly, but I figured any help I could get on here beforehand wouldn't hurt.
Thanks for any help you could give me.
Chris

Dont Order a Mazda. I ordered an RX-8 In early October, but wait it has not even been made in over 3 months. There was a fire at the plant late December so all production has been shut down for at leat two more months. Then they would have to make my car and ship it over here-more delays. By the time I placed my order, and received it would have taken 7 to 9 months. Mazda customer service is horrible, so is their product knowledge and support. I owned and maintained an rx-7 for 14 years. There is a bran spanking new BMW X3 in my garage. Mazda can kiss my ...........

My 2 cents
Ordering what you want from the get-go is going to cost less than adding on and even swapping out for replacements later. It's cheaper to built it straight up, all accesories at once (full kits instead of 1 piece at a time etc) than to pay for fitments & labor after the fact.
And you're right - limited budget & this car (or any car) are not a good idea. So..what'cha gonna order? :D

Well as I said the MS kit (full, front and rear bumpers, sideskirts, and ms spoiler), but I was just wondering if I could save some extra cash since they wouldn't have to put on the stock bumpers.
