Looks like three dealers around my area are asking ~$22,882 for a base 6 speed rx8. All three are with-in a 100 dollars of each one. Some are saying 1000 rebate if you use mazda finance.

What are some others paying?

They all listed that, then said "22,800, 22, 850, 22,900"

 

what is this 3000 rebate? mazda site only has 1000 in customer cash, 500 if you finance through mazda.

looks like they're giving you extra stuff.

Sure you are talking about an 06. $3000 + $1000 MAC is on the 05's and that should be off invoice not MSRP.

 

For March 31, my dealership had a "one-day-only" sale of a base galaxy gray 6-speed MT for $22,500. It sold in about an hour after opening that day. This was also before Mazda started offering incentives on them.

 

The incentives that I am aware of are on the 05 left over cars.
I bought a new 05 velocity red 6 speed base car including tax, title and license fees on 4-17-06 just outside of DC @ Malloy Mazda for $21,925.47.

 

Nice, what options did it have sport, touring, gt? I also paid 22 out the door for a 05 sport 6spd with appearance and rotary accent.

 

If these incentives are indeed for the '06 models, I would assume that does not bode well for the sales. Didn't the '06s just hit the dealers not too long ago?

It is a velocity red 6 speed car with rubber mats and the cargo net as options.
I believe you got a better deal then I did!
All 6 speed cars have the sport tuned suspension and the limited slip diff. as I recall.
What does the sport package give you?

 

Sport package gives you traction/stability control, high intensity discharge headlights and fog lights. None of those things really fall under the sport/performance category, kind of strange. If you got touring (moonroof, bose) or GT (moonroof, bose, leather etc) then you got a better deal than me but if yours is a sport or base model then you didn't.

I did a ton of legwork to get the deal I did, searched all the dealer inventories in TX for about 20 dealerships then called every single one that had a car with similar specs to what I wanted. Finally found one and worked a deal on the phone and flew down to drive the car back.
