My step brother sold cars for a big auto group in the Portland area which sold Mazda. He said that on the RX-8 the dealer usually pays between $200-$500 under the invoice price, and showed me the papers that backed it up. He showed me papers for two cars, which showed itemized what the dealer actually paid for it, then what the invoice said, what the MSRP was, and then what the cost was after they marked things up a bit to put out on the lot. You might be suprised that there wasn't a huge markup on them or difference between invoice and MSRP. He said that Mazda usually had a much smaller gap than a lot of other brands. Recall GM Employee Pricing where supposedly you were getting a great deal and it was reflected on the papers? Well, they were still doing good on making money off it since they had a much larger gap between the pricing range, according to my stepbrother.

P.S. I am not buying through him or his autogroup. He moved to another state a couple months ago.
