Capital One Auto Finance? Good Or Bad?

Ive been reading different posts on several web boards, alot of people have used Capital One Auto Finance, to finance their cars. But no one seems to mention if they have good/bad service throughout their loan, IE, dispute handling, customer service, etc.. any bad complaints? are they recommended or should one stay away from them? I know about the rates and such, so not concerned about that.

Just wondering on how they do buisness, are they trustworthy to deal with?

Thanks
Zip

Go to your local credit union and become a member. They have the best rates and have great service. I'm paying 4.625% on my 72 month loan.

capital one is awesome!!!!!!!!! everything about the process is great........the best way to do it..........you go into the dealer with yoru check in hand.........the rates are really low........the best i have seen.......as to credit unions.....they typically have the lowest rates, but not always!!!! depends on where u live and if u can join a credit union. I would go with capital one..........alot easier........and low rates.

On-Line Lenders

Went through www.lendingtree.com and got offers from Capital One, Household Finance, and Synergy bank. Rate from Synergy was the lowest, 4.35%, with Capital One close behind. It's worth getting bids from on-line lenders, as well as your local credit union, before talking to your dealer. In some cases the dealer can beat the interest rate (since they typically get a cut from their lenders). With a bid in hand, you can usually determine whether to give the dealer your business.

One possible disadvantage of on-line lenders, though hardly limited to them, is the potential to "sell" your loan to another lender. This is more common for mortgages than car loans, I believe, but is pointed out specifically in their loan agreements. This does not affect you except in terms of some extra paperwork if your loan is sold.

Finally, if you have any doubts about your ability to make your payments regularly, and more important ON TIME, it may be better to deal with a local credit union. Some lenders have truly Draconian remedies for late payments. My guess is that a local credit union with a presence in the community may be less likely to invoke major penalties if you miss a payment.

I've used Capital One (back when they were PeopleFirst.com) for a used car purchase and two refinances. Couldn't be happier. Haven't had occasion to call customer service since the acquisition though. Previously I thought they were very good.

It's nice to walk into a dealer and let them know you're just going to write them a check.

You might check out the auto forum at creditboards.com to get some feedback on Cap One. Some call it "Crap One," but that doesn't mean you can't get a good deal from them, depending on your circumstances.

I've had nothing but good experiences with them, both as PeopleFirst and as Capitol One Auto Finance. In fact, my 8 is currently financed through them -- the dealer couldn't beat their rate (nor could anyone else!).

The biggest advantage of Capital One is being able to finance damn near any car regardless of age. That's how I just bought my '94 RX-7 - the bank laughed at me when I wanted to finance a 10 year old car . Capital One hooked me up.

I've bought 2 used cars with their blank check, and have had EXCELLENT customer service, no problems, a fair rate, etc. It's even more worthwhile if you ever buy a used car and need to finance.
