How much for insurance for 17 year old?
How much for insurance for 17 year old?
I was wondering any 17 year olds out there in NJ and could share how much they pay for insurance? I cant do the insurance quotes online yet because i dont get my licesnce for quite a while but still would like to do some research on how much insurance would be, to see if i can make enough money from working to pay for insurance....my friend pays about 2500 for a wrx impreza, will it be similar to that? also how much would the 2k5 rx-8 price would go down do you think by july?
Also just wondering if storing a rotary engine is similiar to storing a piston one and how long do rotaries typically last?
Thanks......

Not the answer your looking for but it will give you an idea of the premium your age and experience will cost you.

It is really weird that you asked this. I was going to buy an Rx-8 over winter break comming up (I am 17 and was deciding between an rx or an is300). My dad just called the insurance company today (allstate) and insurance for me on an rx-8 is roughly 2500. My parents felt that this was wayyyy too much so now im going have to settle for the used is300. The company said that the insurance is so high because rx-8 is considered a high performance car. Guess I wont be hanging around the forums anymore

what state do you live in? my parents were expecting my rates to be 4k+ so maybe 2.5k might be able to handle.... how much insurance for the is300? does the fact that its used make any difference to it?
well the insurance agent called my dad crazy for even considering either of the cars cuz the insurance would kill us. right now i am on a 95 maxima with 200K+ miles. insurance for that is about 1200. I live in alpharetta, GA. The guy was too busy convincing my dad not to get me either car that he forgot to tell him insurance on the is300, but it was cheaper i know that. The fact that i would be getting a used 01 or an 02 also made it cheaper as well as it not being considered a high performance car. the insurance guy should call back this week with a quote for the is300 if you are still interested i can post back.

.SOOO weird! my dad didnt want me to get the RX8 because of the insurance (actually he had other reasons but the insurance was one of them). he wanted me to get the IS300 SOOO BAD. he said its a nicer car and it'll probably lsat longer and ect.... he came up with so many excuses but i picked the RX8. The insurance is high but he's paying for it =). dont get me wrong, if we were in a finacial problem, i'd pick a used honda or something but were not. and i'm 18!
how much are you paying for your insurance then? i guess mine would end up being 3k incase NJ has the higest rates... we test drove the is300 when my bro was picking his car and def not even close to the g35 sedan..... well hopefully my parents will be leant about it, because g35/350z insurance rates are crazy apparently due to the amount of stupid teenagers acting like idiots and racing......
also another reason is that freshman year in college, most colleges wont let your bring cars so itll pretty much be left in the garage incase my parents wont want to drive it, is it okay to store it for a year?
parents dont seem to want to talk about it though, just tell me to wait a couple months and then talk....guess ill just wait till then and see what happens...
