Can't buy till 2005

I'm not ready to buy a new car yet, not until next year around this time. All I'd want is an RX8, if not for that car, I'd be content with just driving my current car into the ground. It should be able to last me at least 3 more years.

Anyway, I'm seriously hooked on the car after test driving it a few times. I've been reading some concerns of some posters around here that Mazda may be cutting production and/or raising prices on the rx8. Basically saying that the deals we're getting now, like buying at invoice or lower, cannot last for 2005... Mazda won't let it happen.

I know none of you can see the future, but would you say I wouldn't be able buy at or maybe $500 above invoice on an rx8 around the end of summer next year?

I'm so obsessed, I already have a color and package picked out in my head.

I would not worry too much about it. I do not think the popularity and demand of the rx8 will grow in 2005. You will be able to find at or above invoice prices by the time 2005 rolls around. If you wait til late 2005 the deals will be there, unless for some reason everyone suddenly wants an rx8 and they can't keep up with them. I find that very unlikely. The Rx8 is a lot like the STI in terms of losing it's demand. The hype wore off very fast. I could have gotten a just delivered 05 sti for below invoice, and I purchased my 04 for even less. Don't count out the possibility of getting a sweet deal on the 05 model. The key thing is that people are not lining up for the 05 rx8, so they won't be able to sell it for much more then the 04 model is by the time next february rolls around. it is a highly produced car, so odds are you'll find pick of crop at a super price. Hopefully these invoice of below deals won't have a long term effetc on the rx8. Unfortunately it has a huge effetc on the depreciation of it, and car is losing value much faster then anticipated. Good luck!!

I picked out in my head:
black
sports package
rotary accents

The price for that is low enough to justify in my mind to break out of ultra-saving mode and splurge. Besides, if I do get an rx8, I plan on keeping it forever and ever and ever and ever... as my only car.

I was always thinking appearance package, but I don't know if I'd want that look later on down the road. Besides, IMHO, the base look is GREAT as is. Then I started asking myself if I really really needed that sunroof? I have a sunroof on my current car and hardly use it. So that got me down from originally wanted the full monty minus the NAV. I'd get the base model, but I want the traction control.

Thanks for the insight, VikingDJ.

My guess is that the chance that buying now will save you money is about as close as you can get to zero.

Wait.
