Buying an 8

Ok I have been going back and forth with getting an 8. There are a few other cars I am interested in including the 350z and s2000. But out of the 3 the 8 has backseats, the best interior and is the least expensive and most practical. But there are still a few things keeping me away and still have a few questions.

1) Do all rx8s have the 100000mile/8year warranty on the engine?
2) is the gas mileage really that bad? I drive a lot and most of it is on the free way
3) Are there any power upgrades? the car handles good but isn't that fast and has no torque. I'm not really picky because it isn't much slower then the other cars I am looking at but at least with them I can buy mods that will increase power. With the rx8 it seems like there isn't much to do that will increase power a decent amount besides FI. Also from what I have read on this site buying an entry level turbo kit and installing it is just the first step. Tuners for these cars are hard to find and the turbo kits aren't really complete from what I have read. I am not looking for a ton of power just something more than stock. I wouldn't mind spending 4k on a turbo kit after buying an 8 to get 50hp but from what I have read it sounds like it is closer to 8k to go FI once it is all done. Can anyone give me some more info about this because I know if I get an 8 I will want to go FI within a year.

I have test drove a few 8s and all the other cars I am interested in and honestly don't care which one I end up with because they all the things about them I like. I just want to try to pick the logical choice for the long run.

thanks

1. I think 04-08
2. no its not, you can get 24mpg out of it on the hiway easy and still get around 18-20 if you just drive normally (IE not pushing it all the time). you'll get much lower MPG in city and if you keep the RPMs high all the time.
3. FI is about the only way to really get a good boost in power. i don't know about FI costs but yes it going to be at least 6k+ to do it. Not sure but ithink people are pushing 300+ with FI?

Thanks for that information. I am still debating but that information is going to help me a lot in my decision.

1. Not 100% sure. The press release for the 2009 model states it too gets 100k engine warranty, but the window sticker doesn't.

2. I get 15-16mpg around town and 20 on the highway (but who cares)
3. Not for cheap. It's a car made for the twisties, not drag racing.
