living in hawaii has alot of drawbacks when it comes to purchasing commodities that have to be shipped from the mainland. aside from having a hard time looking for the right specs, the added cost for shipping cars here makes the difference from mainland prices ridiculously high.

i've read a post here recommending buyers to look into buying from the mainland and having it shipped here and save money rather than be abused by the dealers over here. i don't have any idea about this and i was hoping someone could give and advice on it esepecially hawaii residents who have done such transaction. i'm looking into getting a used one either from a private party or a good dealer. thanks in advanced.
