Furious seems not to have understood that driving an RX-8 will put his son at a HIGHER risk of a bad accident than say a Camry.

Not a difficult concept to understand. His line of reasoning that every car carries some risk makes no sense, because it doesn't take into account degree of risk. Sure it can take some mental effort to weigh risk vs benefit, but life is game of probabilities ... there is no black and white.

He must have some other reasons that are keeping him from seeing this, perhaps he likes the idea of his son being in an RX-8 or some such other reason that is clouding his objectivity. Or maybe he has made a risk-benefit calculation, and the benefits of the RX-8 outweigh the increased risk of injury to his son.

Would be interesting to know.
