appearance package!

Just got my 8 recently and I'm VERY happy:D .

I would like anybody's opinion bout me declining the $695 for the appearance package (undercoating, rust-proof, etc.) Did I make a good choice of not getting it?

IMO, you made an unworthy choice. I love how the appearance package is added on to the car. Looks really great, and just having that makes you just want to keep it that way for the rest of its life!

Not saying that it's a bad choice, but I'd rather drive with the AP. "To each his own."

Optimus, he's not talking about the Mazda factory Appearance Package, he's talking about a dealer rip-off package that typically consists of $5 worth of Scotch-Gard for the carpet, $5 worth of Scotch-Gard for the upholstery, $10 worth of polymer paint protectant, and $20 worth of messy spray-on undercoating - $40 worth of stuff, 0.5 hrs of the minimum wage lot boy to spray it all over and under your new car, and they then charge $695 for it! The whole purpose of that package isn't to protect your car, it's to generate major profit for the dealer.

You should ALWAYS decline to purchase those dealer add-on appearance or protection packages. KTM-316, you did well!

Regards,
Gordon

Gord96BRG is right. I'm talking bout those paint protectant, undercoating, and cleaners. I could always buy Zaino, right?

Just to let you know I do have the APPEARANCE package and spoiler.

Yes, you made a good choice, since the dealer package thing was just a rip off. You can do the same thing for $40, as someone pointed out.

The appearance package includes the front air dam, side skirts and back aero flares... the MSRP for these items are roughly $970...

EDIT: Found the invoice on the forum, check it out.

My apologies for that...I just thought you meant the Appearance package that you can include to spice up the RX-8.

Good choice......never buy the undercoating protection etc........costs a fortune and it's worth about $5 and does not protect the car very well. I worked for a dealer for 3 months one time and my brother sells cars for a living!!

I am regretting not getting the appearance package. I am thinking it is more expensive to add it on later. $230+ for side aero flares, $215+ for rear aero flares not to mention the front air dam and rotary accents fro front and rear. Then add shipping and handling. I think the appearance package looks more aggressive and stylish.
