Advice on buying 2005 GT
I'm looking to buy a used RX-8. I found one that I liked. I'm looking for opinions on whether the asking price is fair.
The car is a 2005 galaxy gray RX-8 GT. It has 25K miles on it. The body, interior and engine look really clean. If I bought the car, I'd be the 3rd owner (1st owner only had it for 4K miles). The car was in a minor accident when backed into by a truck. The repairs look flawless. The car was driven in the city and on occasional highway trips.
The car is priced at $17,500. The owner will sell his Blizzacks winter wheels (tires and rims, I believe) for $500 more. Supposedly the stock tires and winter tires each have about 20% wear. The car has been well maintained as far as I can tell. The private seller is firm on his asking price.
How is the pricing on this ride? Is this car worth the asking price?

The 2005 RX-8 that I'm looking at is a 6-speed. It's a Grand Touring and has a sunroof, heated leather seats and Bose upgraded stereo. Titanium gray it is.
It's a really nice looking car. It drives well too.
Some considerations that I have in regards to RX-8's in general include:
I may have some snowy days to drive in since I live in Chicago. I'd get the snow tires so that will help. I hear a sandbag in the back helps when the roads get bad. I read some threads about driving in the snow. It sounds doable. I used to drive a rear wheel drive 1970 Chevy Malibu with no problems. That was a heavier car but so what.
I'm looking to use the car to drive 2 miles to the train every day. I'd also use it for any trips on evenings and weekends. How will the short commute each day affect the car? I'm not concerned about the gas mileage.
What kind of longevity and maintenance do RX-8's require? I'm looking to keep this car for 100K+ miles. I'd most likely go to a mechanic for repairs. I've read that the engines can be kind of touchy and need replacing sometimes. I have no problem taking car of the car and driving responsibly. I also realize that people the have problems are the first to post their gripes on the net.
I appreciate your comments. Like I said, I really like the car. I'm looking to use it as my primary vehicle, all year round.

Fpr perspective, I have a 2005 GT with 25,000 miles, coming to the end of my lease in December. My residual is around $16K.
As far s snow goes, the snow tires shold help. I have Pirelli P-Zero Nero all-seasons, and they are not great in snow, but Cincinnati doesn't get that much, and when it does, I have a '96 4WD Tacoma.
