3 quick questions

Im most likely going to be buying an 05 rx8 this monday. Its a GT w/ nav and every other option but wheel locks, with 9k miles on it...the dealer has it listed at $21,988 I was going to shoot for $20k even out the door is that fair? Secondly i asked him about recall 4206f, that major emissions one and he had no clue what i was talking about. Its supposed to be done by monday, is there anyway to check whether or not it was performed or if there just jacking me around. Lastly, were any shinkas produced in velocity red? One of the salesmen i talked to kept trying to tell me it was a shinka, in my research im pretty sure there either copper or black cherry and not velocity red w/ the red/black interior. He gave me a copy of the original window sticker and it says no where on there that its a shinka.

According to NADA Guides, which is closer to what the dealers use than kbb.com, they are a little too high.

There were no Shinka's made in VR. There was a different Red, but I don't remember the exact color.

Avoid the salesman who told you the velocity red was a Shinka. 05's only came in black cherry and copper red is the only red it comes in AFAIK. Only sand interiors too. Kick him in the nuts for me, I hate salesmen like that.

They have to do the recall. Talk to the service manager.

Yea i argued with him for a good 15 minutes that it wasnt. He kept saying he "did research" on the internet and it was a shinka. I just stopped arguing with him eventually the internet manager came and i test drove it. The car drove amazing, however the shifter vibrated alot just normally driving now im used to a vw jetta so im not sure if thats normal or not but it struck me as kinda odd.

if you do buy it, take it to another dealership for service. you might want to do a search here for that particular dealership and sift through the "good guy/bad guy" thread if anything comes up. i found out that the dealership i bought from were good at sales and horrible at service. luckily for me, the dealership closer to home has an outstanding service department--so far.
