'05 used for 22.5k?

Just want to get some second opinions on the price. I already know it's really good, and I doubt I could get much farther down on it.

2005 RX8
6,300 miles
Mazda Certified Car (this is why I really want to get this car...uber-warranty)
GT Package
6MT
Navigation
No spoiler
No moonroof
Red exterior (factor in extra cash for the speeding tickets...j/k)
Red/black interior

Asking price: $25k
Price I negotiated to: $22.5k

GT? If so, maybe--depends on how clean it is, how much you like the car, etc...
Touring? If so, no.
Sport? If so, HELLZ no.
Shinka? If so, yes.

Edit: I just read--"no moonroof." My bad. So, the answer is no. Too much. I got my 2006 6MT/GT for a fart more than that...(just under $26k before tax, lic., APR, and trade-in). There are a ton of rebates now for new ones. For an extra $5-20/mo. you can get a new 2006GT, new as in it hasn't been bought since 2006.

The middle statement doesn't jive with the surrounding statements. You'll have to clarify.

Anyone have the MSRP/invoice costs for the moonroof? I searched around and saw "~$1k" floated around on the forums, but does anyone have something more specific?

Keep in mind that this is a certified used car with a lot of extra powertrain warranty. I already factored in a $1k premium for this little tidbit. But overall you're right, I assumed the moonroof was cheaper than $1k, and if it's not, then I'll try to push the price down a bit more.

I *think* the moonroof was optional for earlier 2004/2005 GT's. It looks like it's standard for 2007's now. I could be wrong about this, but that was my working assumption.

I just had a GT owner/friend inspect photos of the car for me and mentioned the moonroof thing to him.

It looks like all documentation I can find for 2004-2007 specified moonroof as standard on GT. So something IS fishy.

Moreover, he pointed out that in the pictures, there were no seat warmer controls. It's definitely not adding up. My bet is that this is just a base/sport refurbished with leather and listed as a GT.

Stupid dealerships. But in any case, thanks for your help guys. I guess I'll have to keep my zoom-zoom itch in check for a little longer.

I bought my 05' GT 6MT (fully loaded except nav.) BRAND NEW for $23K OTD. If you cant get them down to at least $20K Id say you could definitly find a better deal.

Just my .02

Jedi: Sorry, Georgia is just a "little" far from California. I have limits on my insanity =)

SoFL_RX8: Thanks for the tip. I scanned the entire "closing prices" thread a month ago and didn't see your price...perhaps you could post a little more info there?

something really isn't right here. if it has red/black interior it would have to be GT (which would include seat warmers and moonroof). i doubt they went and refurbished a base/sport model with new interior but i guess anything is possible. do you have a link to the car you're looking at?

i'm not sure if moostafa's car is still available but you may want to give him a shout.

Moonroofs are stardard with the GT package in the US. But they're optional in Canadian models. This may not be an original US car.

Oh and yes, $22.5k too expensive. I see '04 models for as low as $15k. Even with the warranty, I think you should be able to get this for around $20k. I paid $23.5k for my '05 GT brand new a year ago.

Dealer site: http://sierramazda.com/en_US/frm_ind...id%3D703751044

Craigslist:
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/car/283070387.html

Picture 4 on the dealer site clearly shows no seat warmer buttons
Moonroof isn't visible in any pictures, and dealer said it didn't have it
Interior is obviously leather though...

Carfax indicates that the car has only been owned by one person in California.

thanks for the moostafa bump. I actually drive through Hayward every day on the way to work, so he's actually close to me.

There's no fogs either. I'm guessing this is a base that someone went to the trouble of adding the GT red and black interior to. If that's your cup of tea (I do like the red and black interior, but bought a base for the lightness) then go for it, but if you're looking for a deal, there are much better to be had. I'm sure deft negotiation can net you a leftover 2006 base for almost the same price.

Unless your state tax is essentially zero, I find your out the door number highly unlikely .

LionZoo: Yeah I would negotiate harder on it, but it's 6 hours away and a weekend trip.

Oh well, there's enough of a market in the Bay Area. I've come close to some deals, but the sellers wouldn't let the car go for the price I was asking. I'm just biding my time and waiting for the right car.

Right, I know exactly where Sierra Mazda is and I even looked at their lot for their inventory when I was shopping for my RX-8. They're 10 minutes from my parent's house.

Just a quick update: I called the dealership up about the car and their exact words were "Well it wasn't sold as a factory grand touring, but it now has a lot of the grand touring features. It has leather...navigation...six speed manual transmission...". 6MT is a GT feature?! Sigh...I've vaguely contemplated calling Mazda to complain because this advertising is just ridiculously bad.

I also found another car suprisingly fast, and walked off with it only hours after I had first seen it...see https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...22#post1757422 $4,000 cheaper than the car I was talking about in this thread.

My buy...

I bought mine, an 05, TiGrey, 18000 miles on it, GT, Moonroof, Heated Seats, flawless inside and out, Appearance Package, everything except strakes, spare tire, and nav.

I paid 18,200, put 3k down, financing like 16.5k . So that should be some indication, granted this was the best deal I could find around, but... they're out there.

::note to self, read final post::

Congrats :-)
