Lightbulb 04 Ti Grey GT Package... Need Advice

So this week i learn that my current car, 1997 Saturn SL1s head gsket is on it was out... kind weird cuz i only had the car since july... only 69K miles... but anyway its gonna cost a arm and a leg to repair so i'm just hoping it last till graduation in may an di get my 8
Anyway these a Lincol Mercury dealer near me that has a 8 for sale. I drove it about a month ago and loved it. the car has everythgin i was except navigation. (really want navi, but i could live without it). Any way they wat like almost 28 grand for this things, its in great condition but it has liek 14K miles... Not bad imo, but most of the ones on ebay either had alot less ot more. Im not the only one that agrees that this dealer is crazy... Maybe thats why they havent sold the car in 2 months

Any suggestions to try to work then down on the price...(My dad has broght a few cars from this dealer (recently 04 Mercruy Sable LS last summer... so maybe I can work some sort of customer loyality deal or something.

Judging by the 8 are goin for on ebay...(Thats about fair market value right) Ones that have navi are barely selling for 21K. So do u guys think I would be out of line try to offer then no more than 21K, provided they re-flash the ECU, and repace the battery and maybe throw in some oil changes or somethign like that...

Heres the car so you guys can check it for your self... 2004 Mazda Rx-8

P.S. Where the hell are all you guys in CT, I never see any 8's around here.. maybe its all the damn snow :p

Thanks

I guess keep in mind what you need the car for... if a sports car is going to be your primary transportation there is a lot of things you have to keep in mind. Like higher costs (gas, insurance, etc.), less storage space, winter driving and most of all, whether or not you can afford it without putting yourself into a compromised financial situation.

Obviously the RX-8 is a very appealing car, but it won't be worth it if you find out after a few months that you've got to sell it back.

Thanks for the concern,
The biggest issue fopr me personally is the gas, which ill deal with...
The insurance i already looked at, its gonna be 2200 for the year, bad but not too bad,
The only other big issue is the winter, From what i read here, if you have the snow tires then your fine, I dotn plan on going out in a blizzard or anything, but i want to know that i can make it to work, But i'll prob just buy a beater and use that so i dont have to get my new baby all salty :D .. plus when ur young (i'm 21) its a lil cheaper to have a beater on listed on your insurance,

At $28K, you might want to go check out a new car. Did not pay much more than that for a new '05 in January of this year ( I bought mine at Stamford Mazda) and you can get some pretty favorable financing terms and 1 year's less depreciation. Low bid, the guy, worst he can do is tell you to go pound sand, more likely he will counter. Bring a bank check for the $21K to show him you are serious. If he wants his price and wont back down much then go elsewhere, remember you are not bidding on a collectors item....

BTW, I'm not hiding; you can see me blasting down the Merrit Parkway with a set of Sottozero snow tires on 17" rims....

I paid $30,000 for a brand new Ti equipped just like the one you looked at. $28,000 is too much.

Edmunds is a good site for used car values. Use the appraisal area. Says $26M for dealer retail, $21.7M for tradein value - you should be able to buy in between there.

Total $21,699 $23,296 $26,329

If you can get financed via MAC (Mazda credit) then I would find a left-over new one. With GT and NAVI it would be around $28k for a NEW one. Leave out the NAVI and a GT might be $26k or so.
