04 rx8 touring.. pricing?? about to buy...

i've been reading posts on this forum for a while now and i was wondering if i could get a few opinions on price..

i got quoted for an 04 rx8 with the touring package for 26378 plus ttl..
6 speed manual
26378
1648 tax
= 28026 plus title and tag... which should be about 300 extra...
so 28326 is the total...

from looking at invoice it looks like i'm getting a little over a grand under..
and while reading the forum and people getting the car at 2k under invoice i was aiming for 25500..

do you think i should try for a lower price considering it's an 04 model?? i know the 04 and the 05 are basically the same...

just wanting some opinions.. thank in advance

You can't compare deals just based on price. People who take dealer financing and trade in their car are not saving as much as the price they paid for the car would seem to indicate. That's why dealers like to negotiate all 3 issues at once, because they can move their profit around to different parts of the deal. Of course a dealer will take another $1,000 off the price of a car if you'll pay $2,000 in interest.

When people post the price of their RX-8, they should also post their financing terms, the model, make, year, and condition of their trade-in, and their trade-in price.

What is the last 5 digits of the vin? take into consideration age of the car. There are cars on the lots that have been sitting for a year and may have mileage issues.

24,739 nordic green sport package, MT, 6 cd, spoiler, spare tire
After I received that price I took in my 98 Nissan Quest and they gave me 5500(bluebook was 4-6 depending on condition. 4.49% APR. 24,739 minus 5500 total price financed 19,239.

i've done my own financing and got approved for 4.39% for 60 months... my current car is going to my little brother and i don't plan on putting anything down... i know that putting nothing down is an easy way to end up upside/down in my car loan if something happens but that's a risk i'm willing to take..

so basically i'm working out the price... and this time i have another option...
it's from another place
2004 black
6 manual transmission
touring package
spoiler
in dash 6 cd changer
for 26550 plus ttl

this one supposedly has less than 5 miles and on their lot... i didn't get the vin number as i should've.. i'm sure this car will be "sold" by the time i get there... but i'm hoping the guy i was talking to kept his word because i gave him a deposit with my cc...

and one last note.. the first car is exactly the same but without the cd changer and spoiler... and they would have to drive that car from another place by doing a trade with them... so i expect that car to have around 100 miles when i recieve it..

thanks for your help and i hope to be joining the rx family within the next couple days... please let me know what you think..

=o)

To answer your original question, $1,000 below invoice is a very good price. Personally, I'd take it. But I hate shopping. I'm satisfied with a reasonable deal (in my case, $867 below invoice, no financing, no trade-in), even if it's not the best deal.

I just bought a 2004 6spd with the appearance package for $23k with 15 miles on it. All of the local dealers have 4500 - 5200 off any RX-8 on the lot. Sticker was 28,900.

The deals are out there.

I just got my 2004 Lightning Yellow (oh, yes!), 6MT, touring, appearance, 6CD, moonroof deflector (oh, well) for $1084 under invoice. No trade-in. I'm sure it could have gone a little lower with more fussing, but I was happy with the price and without a headache. The dealer did get me lower financing (3.84% 48 month) than I got myself. I take it back to get the M calibration Monday.
Thanks to the forum for all the info on the PCM reflash; the sales guys had no idea and the car had never been done.

I'm also in SoCal. Which dealer did you get the car from?

Long Beach... They were almost out of 2004's. Go to Irvine Mazda. I got them down to 4500 off any 8 on the lot.
