paint is going to chip when it is put on wheels. powder coat is the least likely to chip, thats why it is used on wheels. if i where you i would save up and get the powder coat done.

i was thinking orange for the tint, since i will eventually be painting it orange. but im not sure if i want to get the tint till its painted or not. orange windows would look funny on a white car.

I agree with waiting for powder coat.

Man I can't wait for my car to get out of the shop!

Bummer!

Since I am only at 27k miles I am pretty sure I will have to replace my spark plugs and coils sometime in the near future... but who knows when.

Other than that, I hope to keep mine out of the shop.

There is a dent in the rear right fender that I need to look into getting removed though.

It's in the fender, right above the rear, right wheel.

Hmmm... I have a dent-puller so maybe we could take a shot at pulling it out sometime?

I got it back today, a day early. I was super stoked... The work was flawless. Well it looks like I'll be aiming for tint if I don't get my rims this Christmas.

Any way you could get a quote for me?

-2004 Mazda RX8
-20% Window Tint

You know the rest hahaa.

I will get that tint quote for you. Sorry I kinda forgot.

Here is a pic of the dent. It runs diagonally from lower right to upper left. Because of the weird shape I am not sure how easy it would be to pull. But than again, I have never pulled a dent before... So I have no idea.

at the front of the dent... is that a scuff mark or did whatever hit you scratch through the paint? as far as pulling it, i would guess about 30-45 minutes. and i should be able to get it out without the need for bondo and paint as long as that isn't a scratch.

No scratch. It has a clear bra piece that got messed up, but it didn't get to the paint. There was a light surface scratch in front of the clear bra that a automotive detailer buffed out.

I see you live in Council. Would I need to come out there to get it done? Or are you in Boise ever?

What would it cost me?

Thanks!

if you want it done soon i would have to come down there... my shop isn't usable right now. but i don't know when the soonest i could come down would be. and that 30 minute time frame is once i have access to the backside of the dent. i just went and looked at mine, i forgot the 8's have inner liners on the wheel wells. i have been working on an 84 dodge d50 for the past month, it doesn't have inner fender liners to deal with.

I would love to have it done soon but it's not really a bid deal. Whenever you can come down works for me. And if it was on a Saturday I wouldn't be in a rush so don't worry about doing fast.

Would I owe you anything for it?

Not the dent. I know I can get my rims powder coated for $200, but I think I'll just wait till I can afford it to get them powder coated instead of painted.

I don't have a ton of money to dump into the car right now, but I'd like to get the dent out. So let me know what you think is fair and I'll see what I can do.

I probably won't have the money for the rims until early next year or spring but I would love to get the dent done sooner if at all possible.

Window Tint:

$125 for the cheaper tint, around $150 for the color stable (3M) nice stuff. And a correction on mine, it is 20% and no I don't think you will ever get pulled over for it being too dark.

That price is for all 5 windows and I think he charges $25 for a windshield visor. Incase you want to make your view narrower than it already is. Lol.

Well hows it going, I am from Idaho, and a local idaho rotary member. My name is Trevor, i own a 2004 rx8 gt and 87 rx7 turbo 2. I am in the Army and stationed in Kansas but make trips back home frequently, my rx7 is still sitting in idaho, but my 8 is here with my wife in Kansas, while i am here in Iraq.
If you guys have any questions let me know. There are a few Idaho forums i know of if you want them. Idahorotary.com which i see you guys aren't too fond of, but i don't blame you, we use to be a thriving community but ever since the economy has **** out, seems like people are stepping away from car hobbies. But another forum, that isn't limited to rotary but more to car enthusiasts is idahomotorsports.com there are alot of good reading material on there and some interesting people.
Well i will frequently check this thread if you guys have any questions for me

Trevor
