WTB, and Where's my Idahoans??

Three weeks ago I saw 13 of you driving around and now you're all gone!

WHERE YOU AT?

Come hit me up at Mtn View HS sometime. Hey and if the owner of the yellow 8 at MVHS is on this forum, let's talk cars sometime man!

By the way if anyone knows of a good place to get an alpine type x 10" subwoofer for $150-$200 used or new, any info would be greatly appreciated. If that seems low then let me tell you my best friend just bought one for $145.

Thanks!

Hope to see everyone out of hibernation sometime!

I have not messed with any car audio in a while, but once I did narrow my search to a specific model number of speakers/amp and whatnot. Ebay ended up being the best prices I could find for new equipment.

As far as I can tell....

When you count you and myself, Boise's total rx8club members come out to....

Two.

Welcome, You can call me Zenor. I'm down to cruise anytime as long as I'm not in school. (I also think I'm one of the youngest on here.)

Where'd you pick your 8 up at?

Oh and by the way, idahorotary hasn't been running in months... If not years.

Right on. If you prefer not to go by first names you can just call me dirty bird. About the only nic-name I have ever had. lol.

Anyways, I picked it up at Peterson Chevy on Fairview. Traded in a Saturn Vue. Lol. Miss the practicality a bit... but other than that, super stoked with the buy.

Where do you go to school at if you don't mind me asking?

I think I saw your ride for sale actually...

And I go to Mountain View... 'Bout the only RX8 you'll see there regularly. Take it everyday. Every once in a while someone will bring their dads and then I never see them again. :/

Oh well.

And since we're "state-partners," my name is Jantzen.

Right on. Apparently the previous owner of mine went to Eagle high school. Took awesome care of it mechanically... but not the best cosmetically. A few dents, spray painted the wheels black (idiot), and didn't get all the recalls done (I think). But yeah, I am not a whole lot older than you, I am 22.

Anyways, my name is Tyler. I will keep my eye our for you driving around. Looks like we almost have the exact same car. Mine is a '04 GT. Have you done any mods to yours? Or is it stock?

Haha... I guess that's a typical high schooler but man he's stupid. Who spray paints a ten grand car's wheels?

I also see you have 15% tint... I was looking into getting 20% but I didn't want the cops to be on my about it. Is it nice?

My car is in excellent shape. Has about 68,000 miles with a condition of about 30,000.

I've got 2 12" Alpine Type R subs and a new metra kit with head unit on the way. I'm highly considering getting some RPF1 rims for Christmas if you ever wanted to buy some "normal" stock ones.

Yeah, pretty dumb.

To be honest... I don't remember the exact percent... I said 15, but it could be 20. I love it. Looks great. You won't get in trouble for 20. If you went limo (5% I believe) you might get some grief. My dad and I own a sign shop in Meridian and we have a partnership with Sunset Tint-n-trim, so he gave me a killer deal. Call him and tell him I sent you and he'll hook you up.

Also, if you want any vinyl done I can hook you up. I just made myself flat black eye lids and they look super good.

I am going to strip the spray paint off my wheels this weekend and plan on repainting them black cause I like the black look a lot. Right now I am looking for a decent set of winter tires as I hear driving this thing in the winter won't be fun:-/ Some guy in Middleton is selling a set of OEM 18" rx-8 wheels with winter tires on them for $500. Freaking good deal. Just gotta find $500. Lol.

Sitting in my office on Fairview, think I just saw you drive by actually! Unless there is another silver 8 here in Meridian :-) Who knows.

+1^ on how good a deal you can get on tint... I'm extremely interested.

There have been a couple silver 8's. Don't think it was me though... You'd have seen a huge dent in the door :/

I mostly roam around the Overland area unless I'm at my dads house. But yeah those tires sound like a good deal.

Might get a decent deal on my rims from my sister's friend too. I hope I'll get that fortunate.

I wanted to get my wheels powder coated... but the best price I could find is $50 a wheel at Primo in Meridian. Not a bad price... but not in my budget right now (since I JUST bought the car). I think I'll try and do it myself first and see how it comes out. Saw a thread on here where a guy used high heat engine paint over 3 coats of primer and it looked good. Thinking about trying that until I can afford powder coat.

I will call him and ask him how much he would charge you guys. Like I said, business partner, so he hooked me up big time, but not sure what exactly he can do for you guys. If you both go in the price might be lower too.

as far as the rims go i could help you out if you want, i am a painter. but i wouldn't be able to do anything till after winter. are you going to do flat black or gloss black?

what colors of tint do you guys get?

I want to do the rims flat black. Do you think high heat engine paint will turn out all right if they are properly prepped and primed? Also considering a clear coat for protection... I am afraid that will make them shinny.

I probably won't get to it till after winter anyways. So I will hit you up when I am ready.

As I discussed with Zenor, I think mine is 20%, just black. You thinking of doing a color?

honestly i have never messed around with engine paint. but im sure anything would turn out alright with proper prep, its the most important part. clear coat will make it shiny. flat colors have the uv protection built into the paint itself that clear coat provides.

yes i am looking for colored tint... black is just too plain, i didn't buy an RX-8 to be plain.

Oh ok. That is what I was thinking. Even though it's spray paint... had the kid taken the time to sand the wheels and prime them, it probably wouldn't be chipping as bad. Oh well.

I have never been a fan of colored tint. What color are you thinking? I will be interested to see how it looks!
